Chance
Ron hated the snow.
Not because it meant a path would need to be cleared, nor that he would be perpetually wet and cold regardless of the fires he built or warming charms he cast but because the snow reminded him of snow angels which reminded him of her.
Scowling at the thought of his soon-to-be-ex-wife, he spun around from the window in his office to find he was no longer alone.
"Yes Scorpius," he growled, sitting down at his desk, unsure why his daughter's best mate was standing in his office.
"I was wondering what you were doing this evening?"
Hearing the normally confidant voice stumble over his words, caused Ron's head to snap up. Looking at the young man carefully - paperwork and a conniving, selfish ex-wife forgotten for the moment as he said, "What's going on?", trying to figure out just what Scorpius was getting to.
"Nothing, just thought if you weren't doing anything...that maybe you would...oh never mind."
Getting to his feet, as the young man walked away defeated, Ron implored, "Wait."
"Yes?" Scorpius replied with a hopeful tone.
Ron realized at that moment he was being asked out on a date; he just wasn't entirely sure what to think – having never thought of a man in that way, let alone Scorpius.
So he didn't know what caused him to say, "Would you like to grab a pint later?"
But later when he wasn't sure later if it was Scorpius' brilliant smile then or the look on his face after Ron impulsively stole a kiss later that made his rash action the best thing he had done in years.
Fin.
