Fay has a lot of smiles
He has a smile for when they find one of Sakura's feather or they travel to another dimension, knowing that the journey's end is coming closer.
He has a smile for when they all have fun, messing about, knowing that he'll miss all of them.
He has a smile for when he's about to kill someone, take another person's life, so to hide the regret of breaking a promise he made to his brother.
He has a smile for when anything reminds him of his brother, his twin who died for him, to hide the anger and pain he feels inside.
He has a smile for Chii, a special one for her because she was the only true thing he had who stayed by his side in Celes Country.
He has a smile for when he wants to hide his sorrow, so that no-one will suspect anything.
He has a smile for when he sees a moment between Sakura and Syaoran or sees Kurogane's love for Tomoyo, because secretly he's jealous they're able to love each other and be loved by someone else.
He has a smile for when Kurogane tries to find out more about him, when inside he's wishing they'd stop caring about him and live only in the present; that they'll never find out what happened to him in the past.
He has a smile for when he realises that the dream that they've been living in is going to turn into a nightmare one day, coming closer and closer.
He has a smile for when he drinks Kurogane's blood, secretly cursing himself for becoming a vampire, and having to become dependent on another person who has to look after him.
He has a smile for when someone calls his name, because he thinks of his past, especially his brother and wondering what would have happened if Fay was the one who lived instead.
He has a smile for when he sees someone sad, and knows the exact pain and sorrow they're going through.
He has a smile for when someone asks if he's okay, because really inside he's far from okay and wants to just hide somewhere and forget the world.
And he has a smile for when he's about to die, when he can leave the world of sorrow, pain and regret, when he can forget about the world, and be happy.
