Prologue:
It burned. The flames that roared high never seemed to dull in both power and ferocity. What was once a beautiful, vintage cottage had been transformed into a smouldering heap. Smoke poured from every crevice as the wood crackled and snapped at the sheer temperature of the fire. A wooden door lay splintered in the front room after a devastating tussle with whatever made its way into the residential home.
On the ground, several beaten and bloodied bodies lay. No pulse, no life. Blood leaked out of the recently deceased corpses, staining the ground with the previously life-giving liquid. The bodies could be identified as a male and female of middle age. The skin had been ripped clean of the body, exposing muscle and tissue. The flesh beneath had been chewed and gnawed by a pair of strong jaws.
These people had been burnt alive and slaughtered by a monster of some kind as had every other human in the small village. Varying in shape, size and power, these creatures had been terrorising humans for thousands of years. Battles had raged between the two races throughout history and were written down some of the most gruesome and horrific events ever documented by the homo Sapien species.
The monsters, as the residents of Earth land called them, were also known by a more common name.
Demons.
