I woke up from extreme heat. I force my tired eyes open to look around and see where the heat is coming from. As I wake up a little more I notice the smell of something burning. Strange, I think to myself. I finally open my eyes and see there are flames everywhere. I gasp and think about a way to escape, as the fire blocks the door. I look at the window and see the same problem. I'm trapped in my burning house.
Suddenly, I think about her. Emma. I'm glad she isn't here and that Henry is with her, as there is no way I'll escape. At least not without magic, which is not existing is this part of the world. Emma, Henry and I moved to New York after Gold burned down Storybrooke, because the Snow Queen had failed. Since then everybody has been living in different parts of the world. I'm thankful that Emma took Henry to see her parents this weekend, because I wouldn't be able to save her from this fire.
I decide that, since there's a big chance that I won't survive, I'd like to spend my last moments talking to my beautiful wife. I quickly dial her number and she answers on the second ring. "Regina? Are you okay?" She asks worriedly. I had completely forgotten what time it was. "I'm sorry to wake you, my darling, but I just wanted to hear your voice." I say, tears running down my cheeks. I can't believe I'm never going to see my family again. "Regina? What's going on over there? Are you hurt?" She knows me too well and I can't lie to her. I sigh. I know that if I tell her, her heart will break, but she knows that something is wrong and I could never lie to her.
"I'm trapped." I finally say. I know it's not the whole truth, but I can't break her heart. "What do you mean, 'you're trapped'?" She sounds so afraid and worried. "There's a fire. It's blocking the door and the window. Emma, I love you." I can hear her crying and it breaks my heart. "No!" she cries, "I can't lose you! Have you tried the bathroom?" My eyes widen and I turn around. The fire hasn't reached the bathroom door yet, so I run that way and go in. I open the door to Henry's room and see I can escape. I rush down the stairs and out the front door. I knew my wife has amazing skills to save me, but I never imagined she could save me just by talking to me on the phone.
"Regina? Are you out? Please, tell me your safe?" I realize, I hadn't spoken since I got out and Emma should be worried sick. I can almost see her pacing in her parent's guest bedroom. "Darling, you saved me!" I say and I can hear her sob. "Oh my God, I thought I'd lost you!" she sobs. I reassure her that all will be fine, as I watch our house burn down.
Once more, I thank God that I was alone in the house. I can't imagine what could have happened if my family was here. I don't know how long I've been standing there, watching the fire department stop the fire, but suddenly I feel arms wrap around me from behind. My wife kisses my neck. "Thank God you're alright." She whispers. "I'm never leaving you alone again." I smile and turn around in my wife's arms. "Good, 'cause I don't want to spend one more second of my life without you." We kiss and look at what remains of our house. At least our family's safe.
