It was getting late at NCIS headquarters when it began to rain a bit at first then it got heavier and heavier. Team Gibbs were all sat typing up their reports when there was a loud thud. With every thud Kate tensed more and more, the thunder and lightning got louder and louder. Tony had seen his partner get scared of things but one thing he never thought she would be scared of would be thunder and lightning.
All Tony wanted to do was to go over to Kate and hug her he wanted to tell her everything was going to be okay. He sat at his desk and watched her jump every time thunder pounder against the large windows or whenever they saw lightning. For once Tony was getting on with his work in between making sure Kate was okay.
After watching Kate for almost twenty minutes Tony decided to get up and go to Kate's desk. "You okay?" all Tony wanted to do was to bring Kate into a warm embrace and tell her that everthing was fine and that the thunder and lightning was not going to hurt her.
"I am fine, Tony. I know that you have been watching me for the past twenty minutes." She tried to act as if nothing was bothering her but Tony, McGee and Gibbs all knew that she was scared of the thunder and lightning.
"Look Kate, I am worried about you i have never seen you so scared." he paused and waited to see if she would answer but when she didn't he continued to speak "You do know that the thunder and lightning can't hurt you. I am here for you if you need to talk to me."
Kate broke down into tears and Tony grabbed her and pulled her into a comforting embrace as he cried. From the other side of the bull pen Gibbs and McGee sat and watched knowing that Tony was the only person that Kate would trust with her life. The three men were all amazed by how Kate had broke down and not pushed Tony away when she needed him. It was a solid five minutes Kate was crying, Tony wished he could take away all of Kate's fears.
It was around 11:30pm when the thunder and lightning had stopped but it was still pouring it down with rain. "Go home get some rest," Kate began to get her things while Gibbs walked over to Tony's desk "Take her home and look after her." Tony nodded and grabbed his things and walked to the elevator with Kate.
As they got down to the parking lot Kate began to walk to her car to drive home when she heard Tony's familiar voice say. "Where are you going?"
"Home." The only thing she could say was home.
"Not on your own." Tony finished speaking and grabbed her by the arm and took her to his car. He opened the car door for Kate to get in,and got in the drivers side and began to drive to his apartment.
"Thanks, Tony." Kate turned towards Tony as she said her thanks.
"For what?" He asked unsure of what he did for her to say thanks. He was also wondering why she had not asked where they were going.
"For everything." She was wondering where they were going but did not bother to ask.
