The Words We Used to Sling
In-between the crashes of thunder and the howling wind, she can hear snatches of Impa's voice. Old memories of old nights in old castles come back in pieces. Nights when she was a too-restless princess lying in her nursemaid's lap.
They sing songs to one another, Hylian melodies and Sheikah lullabies that trade places and tangle in the still, warm air next to her fireplace.
And now the woman has gone into the Shadow Temple.
She isn't going to come back. Just the same as the other Sages before her didn't come back.
Sheik knows that this is part of the destiny of Hyrule. Impa is in the Goddesses' hands now, and once the Hero of Time... No, Link defeats the monster from the well, the evil within the temple will be abolished and he'll be one step closer to defeating Ganondorf.
And Impa's spirit will be one day closer to resting.
She needs to move on to the Desert Colossus and wait for Link there. It's a long trip from Kakariko to the Gerudo Desert without a horse.
She needs to move on before the old lullabies in the storm put her to sleep.
AN. First ever venture into this fandom! Concrit is a 'yes, please!' Also, yes, Sheik is a girl if it's from her point of view. I guess.
