The Lampie Story
In the beginning of the world, there were the Lampies. Lampies are little people about a centimetre tall, who generate light. In the beginning, the Lampies were all neutral; they generated neither light nor dark, but a curious half light, and so the entire world was never in entire night or day. At the poles, this still occurs, but at the equtor, the Lampies split into two seperate groups. One were the light Lampies, led by Lampie Lampiewalker, who was to nicest, kindest, bravest, most noble Lampie that ever lived, and the other were the dark Lamies, led by the most cruel, horrible, disgusting Lamie of them all, Darth Lampie.
One day, Lampie Lampiewalker was walking along in the woods, and a thought poped into his tiny head.
"I think I'll build a castle!" he said to himself.
So Lampie Lampiewalker flew up into the sky, and summoned all his light Lamies to him. There, all the light Lampies started having a party, breakdancing and generally having a good time. This generated light. Darth Lampie saw this cidital, and he was jealous, so he decided to make himself a fortress. Darth Lampie flew up into the sky and summoned all his dark Lampies. They all started breakdancing, drinking, and hitting each other over the head with spare copies of Windows NT, which generated darkness. Lampie Lampiewalker called his castle, rather inventivly, 'The Sun', and Darth Lampie took the hint and called his cidital 'The Moon'.
All the Lampies, light and dark, who couldn't be bothered to turn up at the parties, or were just social Lampie outcasts, flew down to Earth. All the light Lampies hid in the lights, and all the dark Lampies hid under cupboards or behind wardrobes. Whenever you turn on a light, all the Lampies inside start breakdancing, and partying, and when you turn off the light, just like Nelly Furtado, the dark Lampies come out with their spare copies of Windows NT.

An eclipse occurs when the dark Lampies get bored with their spare copies of Windows NT, and decide to gatecrash on the light Lampies' party. It takes the light Lampie bouncers a whole five minutes to get rid of the entire dark Lampie population. Fun fun!!
