Post Jose Chung's – from Outer Space

...

Scully closed the door behind Mr. Chung and picked up her mobile phone to call Mulder. He insisted she called him once he had left so he could return. He had a potential new case he wanted to run by her. Before she could finish dialling his number the office door opened and the man in question poked his head in.

"He's finally gone." He grinned. "Have fun?"

"Sure," she told him. She had played down her interest in meeting the author – but Mulder knew her too well. He saw the fan-girl in her the moment he mentioned Jose Chung's interest in coming to interview them.

"Hey Scully, I was thinking about something."

"Uh oh," she responded with a laugh. "That never ends well." He placed a hand over his heart pretending to be offended.

"You don't remember anything after you brought the ice back to the hotel room – do you?"

"No Mulder, we have been over this. Do you remember anything?" He bit his lower lip nervously.

"Maybe, maybe not." He shrugged. "Never mind." He sat down and looked ready to get back to work but he had piqued her curiosity now.

"What do you think you remember?" She asked.

"I don't know, Scully. Probably nothing." She rolled her eyes.

"Come on Mulder, it's me."

"Which is why I probably shouldn't say anything."

"Mulder," she whined. "Please just tell me!"

"Well…" He put his feet up on the desk and tilted his chair back in his usual manner. She bit her tongue to keep from telling him it was dangerous. "I remember you helping me to the couch…" He closed his eyes a moment as if remembering. "You gave me a blanket from your bed…" He opened his eyes and met hers. "And when I lay down you bent down…" He trailed off for a moment and wouldn't meet her eyes. "And I do believe you kissed me." She felt her eyes widen in shock. She would never! I mean, it wasn't like she hadn't thought about kissing him – but she would just never act on those impulses.

"You were probably dreaming Mulder," she laughed nervously wracking her brain for memories.

"In your defence, I swear you were drugged. From what I remember anyway." She could suddenly see herself bending down and Mulder looking directly down her top… She remembered that he was pouting slightly… Oh shit. She had kissed him. She shook her head to clear it.

"Shit, Mulder I think you are right." She began pacing. Why would she have done it? He must be right. She must have been drugged. There was no other explanation for her slip up. She stopped pacing and met his eyes again. "Sorry, but you were looking down my top you know. You started it." She pointed a finger at him accusingly. He chuckled.

"Scully in all honesty that is far from the first time I've looked down your top." She blinked in surprise, not expecting that response. "I am but a man." He told her. "Plus, no need to apologise. Maybe you don't remember but I returned the kiss." She felt a blush rise to her face.

"I need to go home." She turned to leave but Mulder's chair clattered to the ground and before she knew it he had grabbed her arm and turned her around to face him. He had a look of concern on his face.

"Are you okay Scully? I was just kidding." She tried to smile.

"I'm just embarrassed by my behaviour." She admitted. "I could have ruined our partnership…"

"It's okay Scully, these things happen." He smiled reassuringly and she took a deep breath calming herself. Mulder was right, it was just an accident. A moment in time and it was gone now. He let his hand slide down her arm and took her hand in his giving it a small squeeze. "Let me go over our new case before you go home." She sighed with relief. Work she could cope with, all this other talk – not so much.

The End.
