Ianto hardly ever makes careless mistakes. Infact, for someone so organised, careful and rational, it's almost impossible. However, he is only human after all, and he might make an odd slip up here and there.
Like when he is making coffee and Jack comes up behind him and pushes his body against Ianto's back, so that he can feel every part of him, if you get what I mean. Then, and only then, Ianto might spill some coffee beans.
Or at times when he sends e-mails to Gwen that are meant for Owen (Dear Owen, please stop watching porn during work hours) and vice versa (Dear Gwen, Please do not take alien sex toys out of the hub) because Jack is underneath Ianto's desk….well you can guess what he does, I'm sure.
And how can Ianto forget the time that he deleted the wrong CCTV footage because Jack was nuzzling into his neck? Infact, come to think of it, almost all of Ianto's careless mistakes are due to Jack. Maybe Jack is the mistake? But how can Ianto think that when Jack kisses him, caresses him and takes him to bed with so much passion and affection?
Ianto doesn't regret getting involved with Jack, but he sometimes wishes that they weren't, because Ianto thinks that it would make things easier for him in the long run. This is because Jack is mysterious and doesn't trust people easily. Sometimes it makes Ianto feel unloved when Jack hides things from him.
But Ianto will never stop. And not just because he loves the sex and the flirting but he's beginning to think he might love Jack too. You could say that Jack is Ianto's weakness. But Ianto knows that he is not Jack's weakness. Jack's weakness is The Doctor. Jack will drop everything for The Doctor with one word; he will vanish without an explanation.
When Jack went with the Doctor, Ianto couldn't function properly for a month. His smart suits were replaced with trackies and trainers and he lost all work ethic. The Hub was messy, no one got coffee and nothing was organised. Except Jack's office.
Everyday Ianto would go in with Jack's coffee (Just in case) and tidy, dust, clean or just sit and think. Once, Ianto sat in Jack's chair trying to find his scent on it, with no avail. So Ianto went to Jack's room and slept in his bed for 5 antagonising weeks before going back to his own, having lost nearly all hope.
Ianto has discovered shocking truths about Jack since his return. Not through Jack, of course, but through work incidents and, Ianto is handy with a computer.
But Ianto knows he will always go back to Jack; whatever he does right or wrong. Because Jack is a part of Ianto and Ianto loves him. Ianto also knows that Jack will always come back to him because, for some unknown reason, Jack is drawn to Ianto like a moth is drawn to a flame. Jack understands Ianto and Ianto understands Jack. Some people might call them soul mates; Ianto calls it fatal attraction.
"Are you OK, Yan?" asks Jack.
"Just thinking, Sir" Ianto replies.
"Well you go ahead and think" states Jack, "'cos you look damn sexy when you do" he adds with a wink.
Ianto now knows that tonight he will be snuggled in bed with a handsome American that might love him. But that's enough for Ianto.
