1Halloween

By Donna

I remember Halloween,

This day anything goes

-"Halloween", Misfits

Mimi sighed. She couldn't remember the last time she had a normal Halloween. Two years ago she was at a funeral for one of her best friends ever, the next she was out on the street, nearly dead. Now it was Halloween again and life was somewhat normal. She didn't know what to do with herself. Mark was out doing God knows what, Roger was going through his "I hate you, you smell" phase, and...

She snapped her fingers. Collins and Angel bought an apartment together. When Angel died, Collins left town. All their stuff was at the loft. She had an idea.

She walked to the complex and saw some kids wearing masks. Sure, East Village wasn't exactly the greatest place to raise children, but it seemed to be a lovely place to keep spirit of a holiday like that alive.

She smiled to herself. One day, Mimi and Angel talked about holiday traditions together.

"Did you ever dress up as a girl on Halloween?" Mimi asked.

"Huh? Oh... depends on what point in time it was. Some years I did. My parents though I was trying to be funny... uhm... wrong!" Angel said, giggling.

Mimi smiled. "You're so bad..."

"Yeah... now everyday is Halloween for me!" Angel cheered.

Mimi smiled as she walked upstairs. She found a key to the loft in her pocket and slipped in. She looked around. "Where would they put it..."

She snooped around until she found a box aptly titles, "Collins Crap." She opened up the box and smiled. Folded neatly at the top of it was Angel's outfit from New Years. Mimi smirked. She pulled out the long, blonde wig and said, "Well... I always wanted to be a blonde."

She put the wig on her head. She looked in a mirror in the far corner and giggled. Her dark curls peeked through the synthetic mess. She shoved her natural hair in the wig, noticing it was a little lumpy. She shrugged. "Oh well." She found the shower curtain dress and put it on. It was a little too big, but she didn't care. She tighten it with some pins she found in the box and found the pink platforms she always envied. She realized they'd be a tad too big, but she didn't care. She put them on and looked into the mirror. She shook her head. "This is so wrong..."

"Whoa!" Roger screamed, walking in. "Holy shit, Mimi! Don't do that!"

Mimi turned her head, pushing the blonde out of her eyes. "Hey..."

"You look just like Angel... why are you doing this?" Roger asked.

Mimi shrugged. "I dunno. It's Halloween. I get to be someone I'm not."

Roger looked at her dead in the eye. "What? A drag queen?"

"No," Mimi said, "A person with a loyal heart that just wanted everyone to be happy."

"Mimi, you do that," Roger reasoned.

"No... I don't... well... I didn't when she was around."

"Mimi," Roger said, pulling her into an embrace, "You're a great girl. You're older now and you've learned so much... you're..."

Mimi sighed. "Yeah, yeah, whatever."

She began to try and spin around, but nearly fell in the boots. Roger caught her and sighed. "Mimi... don't do this."

Mimi bit her lip. "Roger..."

"Come on," he said, "I know what'll make you feel better. Let's go and buy a bag of candy and see if they're showing some crappy horror movie on the public access channels."

Mimi smiled. She knew it would be what Angel would have wanted. "Yeah... yeah! Okay! Let's do that!"

"Oh, and Mimi?" Roger asked.

"Yeah?" Mimi said, pulling a piece of blonde out of her face.

"You're my angel... if it matters any."

"You're such a cornball! I love you, Roger!" she squealed, hugging him, "Let's get some Milky Ways!"

Roger grinned. "Yeah! Okay. Let's go before Mark comes home."
