Koishiteru

He could deny it all he wanted, and that was just fine. But there was no hiding the fact that his heart belonged to a certain someone. Sure, he acted indifferent around her when in front of other people and/or the paparazzi that sometimes followed him, his gaze hard and telling everyone to fuck off. That was a simple mask, however, and only a few good friends knew about that. Even so, nobody truly knew that he was a fluffy bunny underneath all of the walls he had erected around himself. Maybe a fluffy bunny with a sadistic streak, but nonetheless, he had a kind heart.

There was one person who had travelled across everything protecting his heart, his soul, and had accepted everything she had encountered. He had decided long ago that she deserved to protect the one thing he held most dear, besides his own brother. And this was his very emotions, the ones he had locked away because he didn't want to be hurt again.

He could remember her standing on the balcony they had shared their first kiss, before the finals had started. Her dress, all black and having a bit of a train to it, flowed in the wind as she observed the city. He had watched as she pulled herself up onto the railing, arms spread as if taking the entire city into her arms, as if she would protect it so he had a place to live in peace. She had known he was there, spying on her beautiful form from the darkness, yet she hadn't minded, because she no longer cared what he did with her. Her love was that strong, her devotion rendering him speechless.

"Do not fret, anata; I will guard you with my strength. I will heal those wounds you hold."

She did just that, too. Every kiss, every caress, her gentle words and acceptance of the monster he had constructed and deconstructed over the years of his pathetic existence helped him realize that she was what he needed to feel happy again. Her smile was brilliant, a beautiful light in the darkness of his life. She healed all the scars that he had, allowing him to let go of the pain and focus on the future.

If she died, if he lost her one more time… he would take himself with her. He couldn't live without her, that soul that continued to burn even though she had been but through everything that nobody deserved to ever experience. Her orange eyes held the flame of both of their existences, the one that would keep them in cloud nine forevermore.

Watching her again, in that pure white kimono and headdress, he felt happier than he had ever felt in his entire life. At his side, she would forever be his. She would never leave, and as they walked into the temple to seal their relationship fully, he couldn't help but smile and whisper into her ear.

"Koishiteru."

Quick explanation: "Koishiteru" is the way to say "I love you" in Japanese to the one person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. And, the scene towards the end was the beginning of a traditional Shinto Wedding.
