Prologue

A pale, bruised face was looking at him from the mirror above the sink. He raised his trembling hand and wiped a trickle of blood running down from the cracked corner of his mouth. He turned the tap on and rinsed his mouth with cool water. As he straightened up, he felt
a sudden surge of dizziness and nausea. He ran to the nearest cabin and vomited into the toilet. Tears came to his eyes. He couldn't comprehend what had just happened. That's impossible. It's just a nightmare. Soon the alarm clock will ring and I will wake up, he thought. Unfortunately, the alarm didn't go off.

Luhan got up off the cold floor and stepped out of the cabin on trembling legs. He was hurting literally everywhere. He looked at his torn, stained trousers and then at his ripped
T-shirt. There were purple-red bruises and bloody scratches seen through the holes in the clothes. Three cigarette burns could be seen on his left arm.

He was standing in the middle of the bathroom, not knowing what to do. The initial shock and numbness gave way to shame, humiliation and fear. He felt unclean. The only thing he wanted at that moment was to wash off the terrible smell.

He took a few shaky steps toward the door. Why me?, he thought as he grabbed the handle. What have I done?

He came out of the bathroom and he immediately headed for the rear exit of the pub, which has been left open by someone from the staff. He has known about the door since he has already slipped inside through it unnoticed. This time, however, he was seen by an elderly man carrying a pile of boxes.

"What ... what are you doing here?", he asked in surprise. "We are closing now." His eyes went wide when he scanned Luhan from top to bottom. "A-are you okay, boy? What happened to you?"

Luhan didn't get a chance to respond. The sudden, strong pain in his lower abdomen made his knees bend under him. Grimacing, he leaned against the wall. He desperately tried to catch his breath, but abdominal cramps made it hard for him to breathe normally. He fell to the ground. His vision became foggy.
