I stood at the edge of snakerocks beside Brightpaw, gazing intenzly at the looming rocks. This is it, I thought. We'll get rid of the mechaning beasts that took over these parts of the rocks. Bluestar refused to make any apprentice except cloudtail a warrior. "I deserve better than cloudtail, I'm much better than that kittypet," I snarled between my teeth. " lets go" I meowed to Brightpaw and bounded toward the rocks without a second glance

I wrinkled my nose in disgust as the overwelming scent of dog hit my nose. It bathed every tree and shrub, making it impossible to detect any other scent. I sniffed again, opening my mouth to drink in more scents. The foul stench of dog hit the roof of my mouth and I wanted to back away in disgust. But I had to find out what creature have been taking over these rocks.

"Swiftpaw! Do.. Dog! Run!" Brightpaw yowled from behind me. I whipped my head around to see a huge, snarling dog charging at us; its musles rippling under its skin as it ran, and to my utter astonishment, more dogs followed it. Vollys of barks reached my ear as I stood there in fear. Pack! Pack! Kill! Kill!

Brightpaw broke my trance and I turned to run up a tree. But by then, the dog had caught up. Its hot breath ruffled my fur and its jaw clamed down hard on my legs. I yowled in pain and turned to swipe at its muzzle.

"Swiftpaw!" Brightpaw yowled and turned around, charged, and bit at the dog's leg. It dropped my leg in suprise and I quickly scrambled away. Growling in fury, it swiped a paw at Brightpaw's faces; she screeched in pain as it ripped fur and her ear of her face. Furious now, I bit and scratched at its fur. While it wad distracted at the sudden attack, I heaved Brightpaw up nuged her foward. Then I ran, my heart pounding and blood roaring in my ear to the nearest tree.

Pack! Pack! Kill! Kill!

A screech broke through the barking and I turned to see that a dog had clamped its jaws around Brightpaw neck. I stood there in horror as the dog shook Brightpaw like a piece of prey and flung her. She went flying in the air and slammed into the rocks, blood tickling down her face and neck. She lay there not moving and I asummed she was dead.

Rage coursed through my body and all I thought about was to avenge Brightpaw. Spitting in fury, I charged and clawed the nearest dog. Its companions surounded me growing and trying to bite at my neck, but I dodged them bravely using my small, lithe body to dart under their belly. Scrambling up one of the dogs back I bit at its. ear, my eyes sparking in truimph as it screeched in pain. The dog shook its head side to side, hoping that it would fling me off, but I held on. A gray dog lunged and snapped at my leg, dragging me off the other dog. The horrible words rung in my ear as it pinned me and shook leg back and forth. Pack! Pack! Kill! Kill! Pack! Pack! Kill! Kill!

I scratched and swiped but couldn't get free. Pain engulfed my senses and my vision burred. Dogs joined the gray dog in it torture: biting and slamming their paws across my body. I could feel my heartbeat slow and at each swipe I grew weaker. The grey dog, satisfied that it shredded me enought flung me away from Brightpaw. I slammed into the rock, my vision red and blood bubbling at my lips. My pelt was on fire and each breath was a struggle. A wave of darkness engulfed me washing my pain away, but I could still hear those words. Pack! Pack! Kill! Kill!
