God it was cold. He shivered, pulling his bag over his body more. Who would expect a desert to get so cold at night?!

He shifted, and glanced over at his sleeping companion. The massive, burly, scaled creature was still recovering. Wounded from something or other, not that he particularly cared, he slept.

He shivered more. " Blast this stupid wind..." he mumbled, curling up into a tighter ball. Why was he so cold, when his rookie didn't even seem bothered?!

Suddenly the sandy ground began to shift. Heavy puffing and breathing could be heard. He glanced up, grinning. " Heya, Rookie... what'cha doing up...?"

" Boss. I can't sleep." The behemoth creature mumbled. The shadow thief just sighed. He had never felt so tiny before he met this creature. Yet this creature... trusted... him. That was an odd feeling, being trusted fully, for someone who's entire life revolved around crime.

" Get over here..." he spoke to the creature " Are your wounds hurting ya' again?" He held up his gloved hands, as the creature lay its huge, golden-scaled, snout into his arms.

" Yes, boss." The creature mumbled, seeming upset. His warm breath, wet with spit and rancid smelling, hit the beanish in the face. The thief just pat his nose.

" Here, let me tighten up your bandages, ya big baby." He worked on the tight bandages holding Rookie's skull together. He pat his soft, flame colored hair, and redid the tie that kept it out of his face. " There, now don't go messing it up, ya idiot." He sighed and curled up.

His rookie huffed softly. He lay his head down next to him and looked at his tiny form. His wide, emerald eyes glanced down at him, like an excessively large puppy. " B-boss, will you lay with me? I still hurt." He whispered, voice loud, yet laced with nervous energy. He sounded somewhat like a very large child.

" Yes." The thief responded. He wanted out of this cold, and perhaps his companion's body would help with that. He curled up near his plated stomach and let out a small gasp. His rookie sure was warm...

The creature seemed contented, and curled up tight around his boss. His stomach was hot, as if fire burned inside of him. His massive, spiked body filled most of the cave, and his breathing created small gales.

The beanish felt the warmth surround him. His body was warming up, and he grinned, petting the beast's paw. Sure, the creature was an idiot, but, he supposed it was nice to have someone powerful to do what he could not.

He felt his eyelids grow heavy, and he slipped into a deep, dreamless sleep. He was warm, and he was happy.
