After Pain had defeated his counterpart, Nagato, the two swords, Soul Calibur and Soul Edge were flying in circles around him.
"Oh! At last, my wish will be fulfilled! This curse will finally be lifted! Now... grant me eternal rest!" cried Pain as a light enveloped him as he was finally given eternal rest.
My curse was lifted... and I was free from my eternal damnation. I then thought about how to spend the rest of my life. Wishing to leave a record of my lives for the ages, I wrote volumes upon volumes of books. With everything complete, all that remains now... is to wait for my time.

After Pain had defeated his counterpart, Nagato, the two swords, Soul Calibur and Soul Edge were flying in circles around him.
"Oh! At last, my wish will be fulfilled! This curse will finally be lifted! Now... grant me eternal rest!" cried Pain as the light was about to envelop him as Pain realized that his wish wasn't granted.
"Wh... why? Why... why can't I die?" asked a disappointed Pain.
"Darn it!" cried Pain as he started laughing maniacally.
"It's all over... everything. So... I have no choice. I must continue this meaningless existence." said Pain.
