Chapter 1

Shikamaru Nara looked over at the girl with the silver hair and green eyes. He thinks she's beautiful and so does every other man in Konaha. Her hair goes down to her waist and is always pulled back into a ponytail. She has glasses that are constantly sliding down her nose. Her name is Luna Namikaze, and she is currently hanging onto the arm of Kiba Inuzuka.

Shikamaru watched as Luna laughed at something Kiba said.

She has the most beautiful laugh, Shikamaru thought.

He then noticed Kiba saying something that was making Luna upset. The kunoichi started to tear up and she slapped Kiba roughly in the face. Shikamaru walked up to his friend.

"What did you do this time, Kiba?" he asked.

"I broke up with her," the dog-nin answered.

"Why?"

"I just didn't feel like we were going to work out together."

"I hope you don't have a problem with an early grave."

"Huh?"

Shikamaru sighed. "She's going to tell Kakashi and Lupe and they will pretty much kill you."

Kiba's eyes widened and he immediately ran opposite of the direction that he was headed. Shikamaru watched him run and when he turned around he was met with a very angry Kakashi Hatake. Shikamaru quickly stepped out of the way of the Copy Ninja and noticed that Luna was now standing right in front of him.

"Hello, Luna," he greeted softly.

Instead of answering, the silver haired girl flung her arms around Shikamaru's neck and started sobbing into his chest.

"Are you going to be okay, Lun-kun?"

Luna nodded her head against Shikamaru's chest. Awkwardly, he wrapped his arms around her waist. Kakashi just happened to choose that moment to return from beating the crap out of Kiba.

"Luna, maybe you should try to not date shinobi," Kakashi suggested while announcing his appearance.

Luna jumped away from Shikamaru. "He is not my boyfriend, Dad!"

Kakashi just stood by Shikamaru as his daughter stormed off. He then looked at the boy next to him. "Are you her boyfriend?"

Shikamaru looked up at Kakashi and said, "Dating is troublesome," and walked away.

"Do you at least like her, Shikamaru?" the silver haired ninja asked before he was out of ear shot."

Shikamaru paused and looked back. "I like her more than anything. I almost love her."

Kakashi smirked under his mask. "Be good to her."

Shikamaru didn't answer and kept going on his way.
