Something Worth Fighting For
Jay walked Mal to the royal carriage in which she would sit with Ben as they travelled to the coronation. Mal seemed nervous as she went over the plan with Jay for the 15th time but Jay wasn't listening. His mind was filled with what he deemed was something more important,
"Mal I don't think we should do this" he said suddenly interrupting her and she looked at him shocked,
"Don't go soft on me know lamp boy" she said firmly but he looked at her almost hopelessly,
"But…. Are we doing the right thing?" he asked,
"Are we fighting on the right side?" he asked and Mal looked at him firmly,
"Jay there is no right side. There is only the wrong side which is our side. Now buck up… This is hard for me too" she finished quietly as she looked towards where Ben was standing as the tailor adjusted the collar on his shirt,
"We just have to remember that what we're about to do is worth fighting for" she told him,
"Now get to your position and wait for the signal" she told him firmly before heading towards the carriage.
Jay sighed and rubbed the back of his head with his hand in frustration as he headed to the coronation chapel when he caught a glimpse of Lonnie in the crowd and he hid quickly when he noticed she was looking around for something…. Or someone. A big part of him prayed she was keeping an eye out for him. He smiled at the thought.
She looked stunning and stood out in the crowd. In that moment he only had eyes and thoughts for her,
"Now that's a girl worth fighting for" he whispered to himself.
