Nicole couldn't believe it she had rushed to the hospital as soon as she got the call saying Marche had been in an accident. She burst through Marche's hospital room trying to see how Marche was doing.
"How's my partner"Nicole yelled getting the attention of a nurse in the room.
"Miss you must be quieter the patients are trying to rest. You're friend is asleep for now and we aren't sure when he'll wake up"the nurse said.
"Marche"Nicole said running to his bedside.
"Call us if you need anything"the nurse said.
"Thanks"Nicole said. She sat by Marche's bedside until she noticed Gigante was in the bed next to Mache. Then she saw David by his side.
"What happened to Gigante"Nicole asked. David's head snapped up and his eyes looked softer than usual.
"Mache and Gigante were battling each other and Jake stepped in and made some rocks fall on the two of them"David said.
"But why did he hurt Gigante he used to be a dominator to"Nicole said.
"Used to be that's why. Jake never liked us especially me and he knew Gigante was the only important thing to me"David said looking over at his brother.
"Is that why you always acted so mean to your brother. You were just trying to protect him"Nicole said.
"Yeah but no one else can know about that especially Gigante he would never forgive himself if he knew he was a burden"David said rubbing a hand down his face. "So what about you. What's the story with you and Mache you two seem close"David said.
"I have parents but they own a big business overseas so they never really had time to play with me and I didn't have any siblings I was really lonely. I bladed but I never really had any friends. Until I met Mache. We became rivals and it was fun. We probably never would have teamed up if it wasn't for Sho and Jin since I became partners with Mache he's become like my little brother and I could never forgive myself if something happened to him"Nicole said brushing a strand of hair out of Mache's face.
"Excuse me but we need to run some tests for a second would you two mind stepping outside"the nurse asked.
"Of course"Nicole said. David just nodded and followed her out of the room. When they sat in the waiting room David seemed totally calm leaning against the wall with his eyes closed while Nicole began nervously playing with her hands.
"Why don't you go get something to eat i'm sure you're hungry"David said.
"No i'm not hungry"Nicole said. It was silent until Nicole's stomach growled loudly. David opened his eyes and laughed at Nicole who looked embarrassed.
"Not hungry huh"David said raising an eyebrow.
"I'll be back"Nicole said walking to the vending machine. When she came back into MAche and Gigante's room David was in a chair by Gigante's bedside looking at him.
"I brought snacks"Nicole said. David's eyes widened when he saw the pile of snacks in her arms. He could barely see her head over the snacks.
"Did you bring any real food"David asked when he noticed everything she had was junk food.
"Nope"Nicole said pulling a chair over to the one table in the room. David just sighed before pulling his chair up to the table.
"I got drinks to but I didn't know which one you would want so I got grape and cherry"Nicole said showing him 2 sodas.
"I didn't ask you to get me anything"David said crossing his arms.
"Don't be so stubborn"Nicole said shoving a piece of candy in his mouth. David was about to go off on the girl until he realized how good the candy tasted.
A few hours later….
It was nearly midnight but David wanted to make sure nothing happened to Gigante so he was trying to stay awake.
"I'll be back"David told Nicole. When he came back he had two coffees in his hands.
"Here"he said.
"Thanks"Nicole said accepting the coffee.
"It's decaf I figured you didn't need too much caffeine"David said.
"You're probably right"Nicole said smiling as she took another sip.
"I can't believe i'm sitting here with a former dominator talking like we're great friends"Nicole said laughing a little.
"Don't worry when you go back to Sho and the rest of team estrella i'm sure you'll all get a good laugh when you tell the story of David the softie"David said frowning and turning away.
"It's not like that"Nicole said.
"Whatever"David snapped.
"I didn't mean to make you mad I just couldn't believe i'm friends with a former dominator"Nicole said.
"Friend"David said looking up at her surprised.
"Yeah is that a problem"Nicole asked.
"It's nothing"David said. Hikaru could tell by the way he looked that he was lying.
"David you do have friends don't you"Nicole asked.
"Of course I do"David said.
"Besides Gigante"Nicole said.
"It's none of your business"David said.
"I'll be your friend"Nicole said.
"I don't think you're team would approve"David said.
Who cares they don't chose my friends I do"Nicole said.
"You're a strange girl"David said smiling.
"You're not exactly normal bud"Nicole said. Then she yawned and rubbed her eyes to try and stay awake.
"Just sleep i'll let you know if Mache wakes up"David said.
"What about you aren't you tired"Nicole asked.
"I'll be fine"David said. He got up and gently draped a blanket over her.
"Thanks"Nicole said.
When she woke up in the morning Nicole looked over at Marche and Gigante but neither of them were awake. Then she looked over and realized David was asleep. She couldn't help but laugh when she noticed how cute David looked. She took the blanket off of her and draped it over David.
"Get some sleep you need it"Nicole said kissing David on the forehead. She left to go get food and when she came back David was still asleep. When she was eating David woke up but he looked exhausted.
"How long was I out"David asked rubbing his eyes.
"Not sure you were asleep when I woke up"Nicole said.
"Oh"David said sitting up.
"Lay back down you need your rest"Nicole said pushing him back down and draping the blanket back over him.
"But I-"
"Just rest i'll wake you up if Gigante wakes up"Nicole said kissing his forehead. She was surprised when David opened his eyes.
"You call that a kiss"David asked looking at her.
"I was just-"
"I'll show you a kiss"David said moving closer to her face. They were just about to kiss when each of them heard their names being called. They both looked towards their two partners who were finally awake. Nicole and David just looked at each other for a second before going over to Mache and Gigante's beds.
