The words crashed down over Clara's heart like a broken mirror. They ripped her apart on the inside, he'd just gotten angry at her and called her a thing to get over River. Now she was standing alone with tears falling off her cheeks while he was staring down at the console. She wrapped her arms around herself and put her walls back up almost like a security blanket, then disappeared to her own room.
He looked up and watched Clara visibly shift from being open with how she felt about him to closing herself off to the outside world, and to be honest it scared the shit out of him to watch her do so. Had he messed up? He deliberated on whether or not to follow her. After making the decision to do so, he paused when he heard singing, he backed up and listened, as well as watched.
