Edward's Dark Past

I was waiting for Edward to come over as usual, but he was taking much longer than he normally did. So I put the chicken in the oven and I read another chapter of "Wuthering Heights."

I heard a knock at the door and answered it. When I opened it, Edward ran into my arms, terrified. I asked him what was wrong.

"C-c-lown-n-s-s!" He replied. We walked into the living room and sat down on the couch.

"What about them?" I asked. But before I could say anything else, Emmet came running into my living room dressed as a clown! A patch sewn into his costume read "Flappy the Clown."

I heard Edward shriek like a little girl. Emmet was laughing hysterically at Edward because he was crouching in the fetal position in the middle of the living room.

"Why….huh…what's happening here?" I stammered. "Well…. Eddie is afraid of a little clown." Emmett teased.

"Stop! You're not little at all!" Said Edward.

"Would you like to hear the story, Bella?" Emmet said, ignoring Edward. "Well, it all started when little Eddie was only four years old. You see, he had a neighbor named Flappé. He looked exactly like a clown; you know, with the big shoes, red nose and everything. But Flappé was really mean. He yelled at the kids and spit on their shoes. So now every time Eddie sees a clown, it reminds him of old Flappé. So we call Flappé, 'Floppy the Clown.' Do you get it?"

"Yeah, I think so. So let me get this straight: Edward is afraid of clowns because of his crazy neighbor?"

"Yes" replied Emmet. I could hear Edwards's teeth chattering in the background.

"Um… Emmet?" I laughed. "I think you should leave before Edward has a panic attack."

"Ha! Sure, Bella." He looked at Edward. "Bye, Eddiekins." He walked out of the house and closed the door.

"Edward? I think you can come out now." Edward stood up and dusted himself off.

"I'm not a wuss, Bella, I was only four!" he said.

"Yes and now you're seventeen and still afraid?"

"I don't know, I guess he scarred me for life."

"Okay, whatever." I scoffed. "Do you want to watch a movie?"

"Sure,"

Before I knew it Rosalie came through the window dressed in a mouse costume! I heard Edward shriek.

"Would you like to explain, Edward?" I said.
