001. Beginnings
Take it easy, kid. Deep breaths! Be calm, be collected.
Lily opened her wide, emerald eyes and stared up into her fathers gentle face. His face showed his age from the creases and lines when he smiled down at her. He smoothed a stray of her hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear. "It's nerve-racking, isn't it?" he sighed, "you look stunningly beautiful." Tears shimmered in his coal eyes.
Lily stood and straightened her shoulders. She squeezed his hand gently, "Daddy, I'm ready."
A single tear streaked his cheek as he opened the wooden chapel door. Lily gasped as she looked down the isle - James was the only person she saw. Even out of the 250+ guests that had been invited. Yet, there he stood tall and proud, grinning at her. She gazed into his sparkling eyes. It felt as though the world had stopped spinning completely. Noise was nonexistent except for the unsteady beat of her heart and her tense, quick breaths. James nodded at her father. Lily looked at her dad and mouthed I love you and he let go of her, slightly pushing her towards James. Gently and carefully James took both of her hands into his, and they looked into each others eyes through the entire ceremony.
"You may now kiss the bride."
Lily's heart came to a fluttering stop until James wrapped one of his arms around her waist and pulled her tightly against him. His strong build was warm and comforting. Lily wrapped her slender arms around his neck. With his other hand he cupped her face and brought her to his lips. Lily smiled into their kiss. Although the two have kissed before this moment, this kiss was the beginning.
This kiss was the beginning of their life, together.
