The Four Season War
The animals all lived in peace for a long time. Once every full moon, a species would choose a delegate to go with the other specimens' delegates. They would meet in a clearing, in that clearing; there was a certain tree, bush, or rock, for a certain species. All of the delegates would take a turn in saying the positive things that have happened to the race. Then the negative things that have happened to the race.
One meeting, a rattle snake delegate, sneered at a mongoose. Saying that a batch of new born eggs were stolen, and he said that the only clue to who took the eggs were tracks that a mongoose left. The mongoose delegate, Spot, denied that a mongoose would steal a rattle snakes eggs.
The whole clearing was soon filled with screeching, growling, and yelling. Part of the clearing made an alliance with Coth, the rattle snake delegate. The other part of the clearing was with Spot.
After that meeting, the whole forest was in chaos. Every single territory was invaded. Prey was stolen, and lot's of newborns were lost. For three seasons, it continued. Families lost loved ones, others weren't seen ever again.
One day during the entering of the fourth season of the war, a mongoose and a snake were born. They were taught the ways of their species. The snake learning how to fight. The mongoose learning how to make peace, and defend himself. They were both promoted to leader in their species.
The mongoose, tired of all of the fighting, asked for a peaceful meeting with the rattle snake leader. The rattle snake leader agreed.
On the day they were both to meet, the Snake leader, Nag, brought all of his best warriors. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, the mongoose leader, brought no one. Nag was spitting out insults, while Rikki-Tikki-Tavi listened to every single insult. When Nag ran out of things to say, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi made a proposition. Saying "If you kill me, you get to do what ever you want to so with the mongoose species. If I kill you, I will make peace with the snake family." Nag took up the offer. Thinking that he'll beat Rikki-Tikki-Tavi to a pulp.
Boy was he wrong, when he lunged at Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, the mongoose blocked with his shining brown tail. Nag recoiled in surprise, not thinking of a counter attack as fast as he usually would, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi bit Nag on the tail. Nearly making Nag bleed to death, for he bit Nag in his weakest spot. This went on for a while.
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi had a few scratches in his chocolate brown fur. While you could barely see what his pattern of scales are. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi could tell that Nag was getting worn out from all of this fighting. So he killed Nag off quickly, hoping to stop his pain.
He saw Nag's piercing black slits looking at him in rage. He watched, as the deputy of the rattle snake family inched forward to see if his leader was truly dead. It turned out that Nag was really dead. The deputy, Rock, had a couple of soldiers take care of Nag's body.
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi watched in amassment as the young deputy took the role of the leader. Rock slithered up to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi looking grateful, instead of furious. Rock explained that Nag was the worst leader they could possibly endear. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi made peace with Rock.
While going back to his territory Rikki-Tikki-Tavi held his head up high. For he has succeeded in ending the "Four Season War."
