Hello my dedicated readers. I am sorry that I have not written or updated in ages. I will try to do so very soon so that you guys do not have to wait much longer for your stories. But I just found this on my computer and I wanted to share it with you guys. It's a different take on the scarecrow scene in Smallville's pilot episode. It's a Clark/Lana story so I hope you enjoy. Please read and review! Thanks for reading.

Clark shivered in the cold air. It was freezing outside and he had wished that he could have gotten the upper hand on Whitney instead of the other way around. He shivered again when he heard footsteps coming nearer. He looked up and saw a kid that looked to be about 17 or 18 come near him. The kid looked at him sadly and said "It never changes."
Clark looked at him and whispered "Help me, please."
The kid answered "I can't."
Clark asked "You're Jeremy aren't you?"
The kid nodded and responded "Yeah."
Clark said "Don't do something you will regret."
Jeremy just looked at him and went off into the field. Clark stared after him for a moment before his vision went black. He awoke again later when the night air had become colder and he pulled against the ropes trying to loosen them enough to get off the scarecrow pole. He heard footsteps coming towards him again and he looked up to see who it was. A flashlight beam was coming towards him and he felt worry rush through him that it was Whitney returning with his friends to torment him even more.
A voice whispered "I swear I heard something over here."
A female voice answered "I hope we find him soon."
The flash light beam came into his area and he looked up and whispered "Help me, please."
A voice answered "Who did this to you Clark?"
Clark recognized Lex's voice instantly and relief flooded through him. Lex handed the flashlight to the person next to him as he started untying his ropes.
Lex repeated "Who did this to you?"
Clark mumbled "It doesn't matter."
He fell to the ground after all the ropes had been removed and the he looked up as a second pair of footsteps approached him. He saw warm brown eyes meet his and he whispered "Lana?"
She smiled and said "I got worried when you didn't show up for the dance. And I found Lex here and he offered me a ride to your place and we stopped here before we got that far."
She kneeled down next to him and asked "Whitney did this didn't he?"
She was staring at her necklace wrapped around his neck and Clark looked away from her eyes and answered "It was just a joke Lana."
Lana smiled at him with tears in her eyes and she said "Don't defend him Clark. Not even for my sake. He had no right to do this to you." Clark smiled at her and she took her necklace off and slid it in her pocket. He felt relief and health flow back through him.
Lex handed him his clothes and said "Get dressed Clark."
Clark stood up and put his clothes on. He knew that Jeremy had to be stopped and he said "Thank you, both of you for saving me. But there is something that I have to do."
Lex asked "Do you want me to drive you?"
Clark shook his head and replied "It will be faster for me to go by myself."
Lex nodded and turned around to leave. Lana lingered a moment before whispering "Be careful Clark." She went over to him and wrapped him in a hug. She kissed him and he couldn't help but return it back.
She pulled away and said "I have to go talk to Whitney but I will see you later." He nodded as she turned around. While her attention was off of him he zipped away before she could see the big smile on his face.
