The mansion was dark and silent, like the death Kagura's master continuously hung over her head. On her pallet in her room next to the pale, still form of her sleeping sister, Kagura's discontent would not let her rest. She tossed restlessly, her mind a whirl of seething, angry, thoughts. It was no use, she was not going to get any sleep now.

Rising silently, Kagura changed into her yukata, put up her hair, and grabbed her fan. She glanced at Kanna one last time to make sure the child-like minion had not been disturbed, before sliding into her slippers and leaving the room.

When Kagura passed the sleeping chamber of her master, she shuddered in revulsion and hate. To think that her fate had been to be created as slave to a loathsome master such as he was a daily, bitter pill to swallow. In that room was the pot that held her beating heart, where he could crush it can kill her at any time. Kagura closed her eyes a moment and sighed.

Padding out to the porch, a cool night breeze ruffled her hair and set her jade earrings swinging. Kagura leaned on the railing and took a deep breath, trying to rid herself of the stench from the mansion, which housed such horrible atrocities.

Beyond the force field that protected them from attack, a full moon shone. It was the end of the month since she had confronted Sesshomaru and he had refused to bargain with her. She closed her eyes, remembering….

"I have no obligation to save you," Sesshomaru had said coolly.

"Are you scared of Naraku?" Kagura had taunted, though in her heart she did not believe it.

"If you are not prepared to do it yourself, then you can't consider betraying him." Sesshomaru responded.

Kagura remembered how his youki flared when she called him a coward. No, he was not a coward, but Sesshomaru would do things his way, and had no need of her or the jewel shards. He had been her best hope, and the only one she still believed was powerful enough to kill Naraku, even though she had left him in a huff.

As if on cue, a figure moved in front of the large, low, full moon. Kagura's head snapped up and her eyes narrowed. The stately, unearthly figure of Sesshomaru was back lit, and he looked balefully towards the mansion. Could he see through it – could he see her? Kagura's eyes opened wide, but as he turned away she was crushed once again.

'This is no way to live,' Kagura thought. 'but my life is not my own as long as Naraku holds my heart.'

Truly, having been created from Naraku, Kagura was not even sure she would still live if Naraku was killed…..

A hand reached out and grabbed Kagura's shoulder, and she flinched at the cruel way it dug into her. Dread clenched at her stomach, and she felt like she was going to puke.

"Unable to sleep, bitch?" Naraku hissed. "Or trying to plot another escape? You will never be free of me, as long as I have need of you…someday, when you lose your usefulness I may grant you your wish."

Kagura did not like the sound of that. But as Naraku dragged her away, she knew what she was in for at the moment. The moon was full, Naraku's youkai blood was strong in his veins – and that meant a night of horrid uses he would have for her now…..

'Sesshomaru, you bastard,' Kagura thought as Naraku ravaged her, and she shuddered.
