The Hero
By The_Griffin

I am just a poor boy, but my story's seven told
I squandered my childhood for a chance at fame and glory, such are promises.
All eyes suggest the Deku Tree hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a babe, in the company of Kokiri,
In the quiet of the forest, running scared.
Laying low, seeking out the exits of the Lost Woods where the stupid people go
Looking for the places only they would know.

(Chorus)
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share, I am scared…

Asking only for freedom, I go looking for the castle, but I get no help,
Just a come on from the whores down at Lon Lon Ranch.
I do declare, there were times I was so lonesome I took some comfort there, ooh, lai lai lai lai lai…

(chorus)
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share, I am scared…

And I'm laying out my battle clothes and wishing I was gone, going home…
Where the Kakariko Village winters are lean and mean. Lean and mean, going home…

In the clearing stands a hero and a fighter by his trade,
And he carries the reminders, of every sword that laid him down and cut him till he cried out, in his anger and his shame,
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the hero still remains…

I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share!
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share!
I am very scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share!
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share!
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared, I need someone to share!
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share!
I am scared! I am so very alone.
I am scared! I need someone to share.
I am scared! I am so very alone…

(End of song)

(A/N: Well, how is it? I know the chorus is a bit repetitive, but I couldn't do "Lai lai lai" every time the chorus came around. Anyway, I was listening to the song that this song was based on [The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel], and thought of Link standing alone in a clearing, scarred from the fight with Phantom Ganon. It just sort of grew from there. And, yes, I know there are no whores at Lon Lon ranch. ::chuckles:: It was the first thing that came to mind, though, and I couldn't have very well put down Death Mountain. Well, ja ne!)
