Author's Note: So this originally started out as an English assignment I had. The assignment was to create a short story of your own creation, based on the book we were reading in class. It's called Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. It's a graphic novel telling of her life in Iran and her struggles as a young female growing up in the country.

The book is really split into two parts, Persepolis and Persepolis 2. Since I already wrote it out, I decided why don't I just post it here? This may remain a one shot...for now. Will definitely continue this story, but, maybe later on.

So I hope you guys enjoy this deviation from my main series Trials of a Dammed Soul.

There were days when things just didn't want to leave Marji alone. This was apparently another one of those days. She looked over her shoulder for the third time that afternoon, forcing herself to swallow the knot that had forced its way into her throat.

She knew someone was following her, but, yet she could see no evidence of it being so. She moved into the shadows, hoping that they would hide her from her persuer's view. She glanced back, seeing a small flash of glowing green.

After a short while, she arrived at her street. She glanced all aroud her a couple more times before dashing into her house. A glint of green caught her eye once again and she gasped. She slammed the door shut and ripped off her coat. She could have been imagining what had happened but it was dubious. She hung it up on the coat rack as her mother came out of the shower, drying her hair. "Hello Marji. Is everything ok? You seem upset." she said. Marji shook her head.

"I'm fine. Just imagining things I guess." Before her mother could ask any more questions, she raced up to her room and closed the door. She pulled out the tapes in her pockets and pushed the one by Kim Wilde into the cassette player. She put the Camel one on her dresser.

She was quite glad that those guardian women hadn't discovered them on her. She would have never been able to get away from them otherwise. They had been quite a hindrance to her.

She took a deep breath and concentrated on the music. Her anxeity was probably just from the fear of getting caught.

A month passed since th guardian incident. Then Marji's parents announced that they would be taking another trip, this time to Paris, and her grandmother would be watching her again. She didn't mind really. She loved her grandmother after all.

As usual, she was expected to behave and not get into anymore trouble at school while they were gone.

Traveling home from school once again, she got that same feeling of being watched again. She looked around herself a few times just in case. A black flash caught her eye and she glanced in the direction where it had gone. She paused, listening. Distantly she could hear a cat meowing loudly. It sounded as if it were in pain.

She followed the sound to a dark alley. She went in, looking for the source of the sound. When she came upon a black shape she stopped.

The cat was blacker than any she had sen before with the brightest green eyes she's ever seen on a cat. It was emaciated and dirty, with a nasty looking cut on its leg. She wondered how it managed to lacerate its limb. When she squatted down to take a closer look at it, the cat became belligerent and tried to dissipate into the trash surrounding it.

"It's ok little kitty. I won't hurt you." she coaxed. It lifted its head, glaring at her. She removed her scarf and reached out to lift the shivering animal into her arms. It tensed when she touched it, but, didn't resist. She cradled it in her arms as carried it from the alley out onto the street.

"Hush hush sweetie. I will take you home and clean you up some. Then I will take you to a vet." she promised.

"Grandma! Grandma! Come help me. We must go see a vet immediately." Marji cried when she entered her house. Her grandmother came out of the livingroom to see what was going on.

"What is it Marji?" she asked. She eyed the black bundle of fur in the girl's arms. "I found this cat in an alley. He's hurt. We have to take him to a vet." she cried. Her grandmother nodded. "Alright. We will take him. But on the way you must tell me more about this animal." she said. Marji nodded and followed the woman out to the car.

On the way, Marji explained how she thought someone had been following her a month ago, and how she saw green eyes watching her. Now she suspected that it had beenthe cat following her a month ago.

"And I heard him crying out so I followed the sound into this alley where I found him." she finished. They had arrived at the vet's now and exited the car. "If we get him back...can I keep him?" she asked hopefully. Her grandmother looked at her.

"Having a pet is a very large responsibility. Especially one that is injured. But, I will think about it." she said. Marji nodded and waited while her grandmother went over to the desk and told the woman behind it about their situation. A few minutes later, a vet came out to inquire about the injured animal. The cat was taken t the back of the hospital to be treated.

"Are you the owners?" he asked after examining it. Marji looked at her grandmother who let out a sigh. "Well, my granddaughter found the poor thing in an alley just a little while ago, but, for the moment yes." sh answered. Marji smiled down into her lap. At least there was a chance of getting to keep the animal now.

"Well we are going to have to give the little guy some very strong antibiotics to battle the infection he has. And we may have to remove his leg if we cannot save it. The wound is quite infected and has been for a while. We will keep him for a week after today but in another week after that I think you will be able to take him home if you still want him." he offered. Marji nodded. "Alright. We will be back in two weeks."

Two weeks later, Marji was up earlier than usual. She was too excited to sleep anymore. They were picking the cat up at three o'clock. She couldn't sit still anymore so se went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for herself.

A few hours later her grandmother was up. "Why are you up so early." she asked, smiling. "I couldn't sleep." she said. "Ah, well I guess you are excited about the cat. I am sure he will fit nicely in here. I already called your parents and they said it was ok. What will you name him?" she asked. Marjane shrugged. "I don't know. I'll have to think about it some more."

Marjane cradled the pet carrier the cat was in carefully. The black cat eyed her through the bars, clearly annoyed at being trapped in a cage. She reached her fiingers through and stroked his ears. He purred at the attention.

When they got him home after picking up pet supplies, Marji took the cat to her room. As soon as she opened the cage door, he limped out and struggled up onto her bed, with her help of course. He laid down on her pillow, his eyes seemingly daring her to object. She smiled and petted his fur.

Strangely, he reminded her of the god that had brought an alien army to one of the cities in America. They both had green eyes and black hair. And they also had a major case of thinking themselves superior. But, she guessed that was just what came from being a cat.

She sighed and went downstairs to get her new pet some food.

Loki didn't know how her got here. One minute Thor had been taking him back to Asgard for his so-called crimes and he'd been trying to cast a simple illusion spell to test out the counter magic of the chains. Then the next thing he knew, things had gotten mixed up in the Bifrost and he'd landed up here, which he later learned was called Iran. Such a strange name.

The travel had been rougher than he'd tried to prepare for and he'd ended up injuring his leg. To hide himself, he'd transformed himself into a cat. But he had no worries. He was sure Heimdal wouldn't be able to find him. For a little while anyway.

He stretched out on the pillow, still in his cat from. The girl that found him seemed nice enough. Certainly niave. He could work with that. Would work with that. He smiled, rolling over. The house was obviously owned by an affluent couple.

He smiled at how lucky he was. His fidelity to his brother Thor was over. He glanced at the door before climbing off the bed in the most clandestine way he could. He shifted back to his Asgardian form before limping out of the bed to look through the drawers, searching for anything suspicious.

that his enemies had followed him to this place, but, he couldn't be sure. The Other had a strange way of popping up in unwanted places at unfortunate times.

"Kitty! I brought you food." Marji called. Loki jumped back onto the bed, changing back to cat form. He cursed silently when he landed on his leg.

Marji walked into the room cheerfully, holding a large bowl of cat food. She set it down on the bed next to Loki and nudged it toward him when he just stared at it. "Go on. Eat." she told him. He sniffed at the food, then gagged in disgust. He hissed and batted the bowl away from himself. The food smelled disgusting and he refused to eat it.

"What's wrong?" she asked. She looked at the food, confused. She sighed ad took it away when he tried to knock the bowl on the floor. "Fine, I'll get you something else Your Majesty." Loki purred. He liked the sound of that.

When she returned, she was holding another bowl, this time filled with fish. As he bit into it, he recognized the taste as salmon.

'Yes.' he thought. 'This mortal will do nicely when I secure my hold over this realm. A faithful servant indeed.'
