One-shot that came to my mind out of nowhere, as most of the one-shots I write! Hope you guys enjoy it.
Malcolm was busy carrying boxes into the cargo bay and that little girl was still by the airlock. "Take me on board."
She was no bigger than 3 feet tall, staring at him with begging green eyes. Her brown hair waved lightly touched by the wind and her face and clothes had dust on them.
"No!"
"Why not?" She asked almost on a cry.
"Because." Malcolm avoided her, passing away from her when carrying one of the last boxes into the ship.
"That's not an answer!"
The Captain of the boat leaned onto her, saying coldly. "No because you talk too much and you haven't stop following me around and I can't handle it!"
"Mama always said the 'verse only gives you things you cannot handle."
"You're still talking?"He kicked a box out in despair, tired of hearing her still talking.
"Take me with you…" The girl stared him with teary eyes. "please…"
Malcolm awoke startled, hearing a noise. Someone had entered his room, but he only opened the eyes slightly, still sleepy. "The hell you doin' here, Beckett?"
"Couldn't sleep." She mumbled in front of his bed. "I'm scared of the dark."
"Well get used 'cause up here it's always dark!" He pulled the bed sheet closer to the chin again and close the eyes, ignoring her presence.
"Can I sleep here with you?"
"No, you have a bunk all for yourself."
"But I'm scared."
He sighed and opened the eyes, putting back the bed sheet. "You won't leave no matter what I say, will you?"
"I'm scared." While telling him that, she crawled into his bed.
"You know you're not gonna sleep here, don't you?" He didn't dare to move. She was using his left arm as her pillow and had already shrunk her legs to her chest.
"Night, daddy." She let out in yawn, closing the eyes.
Malcolm heaved a sigh and pulled the bed sheet to her. He put the other arm around her and snuggled her to his chest, lying down the head on the pillow again. "Night, Becky."
