Officially she knew, the Solar System was at war, had been at war since her departure. No one else knew of the trouble that brewed until it was too late, but she did, and she knew that when she would return, a sacrifice would need to be made for all to survive.
As the heiress, a 19 year old woman stepped softly onto the marble, which made up her home planet, bright blue eyes flickered with an emotion untamed by none except her husband. As the Moon Palace loomed above her, she looked down at the young babe cradled within her arms as an arm rested on her waist.
"Let her sleep for once, my love." A male voice softly whispered into her ear. "No doubt that the both of you are tired from the journey."
As she looked up, she smiled at her husband before moving the babe to rest comfortably on her arms, and continued to watch her sleeping. Serena giggled softly and rested her head on her husband's shoulder.
"Shall we make our appearance?" Serena asked as she looked up at her maternal home.
"I believe we shall." Her husband chuckled, as he kissed the top of her head. "I have a feeling that they'll probably kill me first, before seeing you and our precious little one."
"Nonsense, Darien." Serena pouted, as she and her husband walked on the shattered path. "I would rather not end up as a widow because they can't take the fact that you left!"
The Prince of Earth, Darien Endymion Knight, looked down at his wife of nearly two years and softly smiled. A frown appeared on his features, as he remembered the events after their wedding, and wished he could take that away, every word, every argument and every tear.
"No, I won't have you thinking like that, Darien." Serena whispered, as she stopped to look at him in the eye. "You are here now with me, and nothing will change the differences you've made since the past year."
"Your forgiveness is the only thing I need, my sweet one." Darien chuckled, as his eyes trailed down to the young babe resting in her mother's arms. "You and our precious one are the only people I live for in this life."
Serena's cheeks flushed red in embarrassment and shyness as she hid herself from view, whilst they continued to walk. As they approached, the view of their scenery continued to change, because it seemed to them that the Moon Palace was in less of disarray, then the grounds surrounding it. Everything outside of this area was in complete destruction and Serena knew that the power of Silver Crystal was in use.
"Lady Princess? You're Highness?" A voice called out from behind the duo.
At the call of their status, the duo turned silently and looked at the approaching Soldier. Darien rolled his eyes whilst Serena giggled as they looked at the Soldier from Earth's army. A short male with brown hair and emerald green eyes sparkled at the couple, before resting on the wrapped bundle in Serena's arms.
"I thought the both of you were gone, dead to this realm?" The boy whispered in shock.
"Trevor, far be it from me to continue living in a realm where memories of my wife's torture continued to haunt me." Darien growled, as Serena stepped closer in comfort. "If my brother hadn't notified me, I wouldn't have known that MY WIFE was pregnant!"
Trevor stepped back in shock, as Serena tiptoed and whispered softly into his ear. Darien sighed and pulled her closer before burying his face in her neck, careful not to wake their sleeping daughter. The bundle moved about, at the sound of a loud explosion, before making a fuss allowing both parents to attend to her. Trevor watched in wonder and delight as the duo cooed to comfort the distressed babe, and Serena began to rock her daughter to sleep.
"How is the war being handled, Trevor?" Darien asked, as he rested his hands on his wife's shoulders.
"Drake is handling all preparations, stating no one is to interfere." Trevor asked as he bowed his head in answer. "Most of the planets are in major ruin, Earth included, and everyone has decided to relocate here." Taking a deep breath, Trevor flushed. "At the moment, everyone except Queen Serenity and King Edward are currently asleep, and are in the throne room, your highness?"
Serena and Darien silently looked at each other, wondering why the two were still awake, but put those thoughts aside when the Soldier in front of them asked a question.
"Would you like to see them?" Trevor asked, as Serena blinked out of her trance.
"Serena, it's up to you?" Darien whispered into her ear, calming her down. "Rosetta needs to see her grandmother, as well?"
"Yes we'll see them, Trevor." Serena smiled up at her husband, as she looked over to the Soldier. "Would you mind leading us over there, please?"
Trevor softly nodded and motioned for the duo to follow him, as they walked down the long winding hallways before stopping in front of two large doors. On impulse, Serena knew these were the doors leading into the throne room and took a deep breath, before following Darien and Trevor as they walked in.
