Disclaimer: If you do not see the name 'Brianna' as the author for any of the warriors books, then they are not mine :)
I whipped around to see a gray cat snarling at me. "Traitor." My brother hissed, rearing up over me. I was frozen. I could not believe my own brother, always so kind and good, would actually hurt me.
I saw a flash of silver. I remember a deep crimson. Pain.
Then I saw many familiar cats, and the blackness came.
When I awoke, I was in the middle of the ThunderClan camp. Everyone was gathered around me, their eyes unfocused and sleepy. I wondered why they were all huddled so.
"Bramblestar?" I said softly, turning to him. There was no answer. "Why?" He whispered, staring right through me. I waved my tail in front of his face, but he did not respond. Spotting Lionmoon by the medicine den, I ran swiftly over to him. "Lionmoon!" I cried. "Something's wrong! What's the matter with them?"
But Lionmoon, too, did not notice me. Instead, he just shook his head and proceeded to the throng of cats still crouched where I had left them. I continued to greet other cats, but no one took any notice of me.
"Oh StarClan!" I murmured. "What is going on?" I looked to the sky, but received no answer.
"Hollyclaw?" An astonished voice asked. "Is that you?"
I turned with relief. "Yes, it's me Icepaw. Why is everyone acting so strangely?"
Icepaw shook her head in disbelief. "But…you're dead. You met some foxes, and they killed you."
My blood ran cold. "Where's Jayfeather?" I asked in a strained voice.
Icepaw bowed her head and gestured with a paw towards where the rest of ThunderClan was gathered. "He was killed trying to save you." She said, her voice hollow. "Shouldn't you know all this?"
Before I could answer, the gray tom himself came up to me. "Hollyclaw." He said icily, dipping his head.
I showed him the same courtesy. "How could you?" I hissed, dropping into a battle crouch. He copied me, his sightless eyes fixed on mine.
"You know too much." He spat, tail tip twitching. "I had to do it."
"But then, how did you die?" I was curious in spite of myself.
He bared his teeth. "That's none of your business."
A mist began to descend over us, disintegrating our surroundings until we stood only on fog. It cleared to reveal the line between a dark, eerie forest filled with a sickly green light and a beautiful place lit by many stars.
Jayfeather started to stalk towards the dark forest. I bounded in front of him, setting my eyes on his.
"Please." I begged. "Please, do not go there. It is not too late to choose between StarClan and Tigerstar. I know that place too, Jayfeather. It is evil. You can still redeem yourself, Jayfeather! Please! Come with me!"
Jayfeather shook his head. He no longer looked menacing and dangerous, but regretful and sad. "It is too late." He murmured. "My mind was made up long ago. StarClan will not welcome me now."
"No!" I cried. "Of course they will! Please, Jayfeather!"
He bumped his muzzle against mine. "Just don't forget me, Hollyclaw." He said quietly. "I've done horrible things, but I still love you and Lionmoon." And he left me standing there on the edge between good and evil as he strode, shaking, into the dark forest.
He spared me one last look before he disappeared forever. I will never forget that look; one of pain, sorrow, and fright. I cried out, feeling his hurt in me and his agonizing grief in my soul.
And I followed him.
Oneshot drabble. Read Dark River yet? Cuz you should 'Tis awesome! I also don't think Jayfeather should be his warrior name. I think it is utterly uncreative, but I just grabbed it cuz I needed a name quick xD So yeah.
Anyways, please review and read my other stuff. Thank you, and I hope you enjoyed this.
I blame Nightwish for making me want to write this.
