Disclaimer: I own nothing…now stop rubbing it in. D8
A/N: Oh my God. I'm supposed to be writing a dedication story for my friend, but this came to mind. I'M SORRY.
Enjoy.
We Were Lovers
"I don't love you."
The words rung over and over in his mind. Louder. They were getting louder.
"I don't love you."
He doesn't love me. He doesn't love me… He thought, tears springing violently to his eyes, threatening to spill, to cause him to shatter. His happiness, his always hyper intensity now fading, breaking him. Shattering all hopes and dreams. It's over…
"I don't love you. I never have; I never will."
Why won't you love me? Please…
His hands covering his face, sobs falling from those once smiling lips, he faded. It was never love. It was only one-sided, never fulfilling.
The two were once so close, so amazing together. Now what were they? He said that he never loved him…then, what was it that they had? Was it lust? Why did this have to happen?
Please…
"No. It was never love. You were delusional. Too naïve to understand this. You need to grow up."
Grow up? Was that really the problem? They helped each other, didn't they? He could help him get better.
Don't give up. Don't give up…on me. Please.
The tears flowed down like a raging river, his eyes almost bloodshot from the crying. Never once in his life had he felt this much pain. He had never cried like this before. And even when he had cried, it was always for something stupid; like something broken…or a bird fallen from its nest; a bird with a broken wing. But now…he was the bird with the broken wing, falling in a downward spiral towards a thorny bush. There was no hope of being saved. Not at this point. There was no going back.
Leaving…leaving…don't leave!
Through his puffy, tear-swollen eyes he saw the other's retreating back. His strong ears allowed him to hear the small cling of the doorknob opening. He wanted to wake up…he wanted to wake up before that door closed. He didn't want to look; he didn't want to see.
"Yuushi…"
The door closed.
"I love you…"
Strong arms enveloped around his shoulders, holding him, stopping his flow of tears. The broken wing began to heal. A kind cat had swept him away just before he hit the thorny bush. Was everything alright?
"Yuushi…"
He clung tightly to the strong body against his own, refusing to let go with fear of being lost again.
The voice that had gradually got louder, the voice that said it wasn't love…the voice slowly quieted down, giving life to new words; new words that he wanted to hear over and over again.
"I love you. Gakuto."
A/N: Sorry. It was a horrible story. But I happen to like when Oshitari breaks Gakuto's heart…and then lets him know that he really loves him. I love Gakuto…and that's why I torture him. 83 Sorry it's so short.
The title name is credited to the anime Gankutsuou's opening theme. I think it suited it pretty well.
Please review and let me know if it was semi-alright or anything. It kills me if I don't know…
