Sins committed

Authors Notes I don't own Terra Nova just the plot of this one-shot. This story was written for the Terra Nova Friday One Word Challenge Week 39 on Live-Journal. Prompt Jim/Wash- Sins.

Well that's the end of the authors notes, now on with the one-shot.

Both of them knew that they were committing a sin, a great sin by doing this, people always said that those who committed a sin would get what they deserve in the afterlife.

Neither of them cared however, in their eyes what they were doing wasn't wrong at all. The end result was well worth it.

This affair started several months ago. Both Jim and Alicia didn't plan for this to happen at all. Jim himself was a happily married man with 3 children and Alicia was in a relationship with Commander Taylor.

The two of them had met up regularly once a week since the murder of Ken Foster, one night while they were both drunk in the bar, Jim kissed Alicia and she kissed him back.

The next morning once they were clear headed enough. They talked about what happened in the bar.

They each agreed that what happened was a mistake and that it should never be brought up again, ever. Fate however had different plans, despite their best efforts both Jim and Alicia started to develop feelings for one another.

Jim wasn't a fool. He knew that his wife Elizabeth and her old boyfriend, Dr Malcolm Wallace were seeing each other again behind his back. He figured that at the very least Elizabeth would know how he felt. He just hoped that the consequences weren't too bad for the sake of their children.

Alicia herself knew that Nathaniel would never truly get over the death of his wife and she did have feelings for him before, now she felt nothing at all for him. All that remained was the growth of feelings that she now had for Jim.

Both of them knew already that some people were starting to notice how much time they spent together and they couldn't help but wonder how long it would be until their affair was finally discovered.

Jim then got the thoughts of what would happen once the affair was discovered out of his mind as he left the house with an excuse saying to his wife that he wanted to clear his head given recent events that happened at Terra Nova.

Once Jim was far enough away, he made sure no one was following before he headed over to Alicia's house. Just as he knocked on the door Alicia opened it and said "Your late Jim."

Jim answered "Sorry it took so long, I had to look after the kids while Elizabeth was doing 'research' with Malcolm again. You know people are starting to suspect something right?"

Alicia nodded and said "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. for now, lets enjoy each others company."

Jim agreed with that, though this whole affair reminded him of the story of sir Lancelot's affair with King Arthur's wife, Guinevere. Jim was guilty of the same sin as Lancelot, however if love was a sin. It was a sin he'd gladly commit again and again if it meant the same result.

Finding a woman who truly loved him, in the end that is all that mattered and damn what anyone else thought.
