From the blog of Fredward Benson
Mar 23 3:57PM, senior year of high school!
I received two letters today one from Georgia Tech, the other from MIT. I really want MIT, but I'm afraid to open them by myself. Everyone says I'm a guaranteed slot into wherever I want to go, scoring a perfect on my SATs, my grade point average and being associated with Icarly.
I'm going over to eat with Spencer, Sam and Carly tonight since mom is working doubles at the hospital again. I have to admit I really hated the idea of Sam moving in across the hall with Spencer and Carly, but I think it's done her a lot of good getting out of her moms place. Well, wish me Luck!!!!

I'M GOING TO MIT!!! THEY OFFERED ME A SCHOLARSHIP!!
Freddie parked his little car in parking garage, climbed out and ran as fast as he could for the building's mailboxes. He sorted through all the mail, most of it for a Dr. Beiler, Freddie's step-dad of three years.
Ugh, all crap for dad. Hey wait, this one is for me. SCC?
"I wonder why Seattle Community College is sending me letters. Oh well."
Tossing the mail into his backpack, he headed to the elevator to take him up.
"Mom!" Freddie yelled as he came in the door. "I'm home!"
"Oh good your finally home Freddie! I had the worst feeling something had happened to you! Any word from the schools you applied for?" Freddie's mom yelled from the kitchen.
"Nah mom, I got something form SCC though."
Mrs. Benson emerged from the kitchen wear her plastic anti-microbial apron.
"That's really good! What did they say?"
"I don't know. I didn't even apply there." Freddie said.
4.0 students don't go to Community college. Not when they do as well on the SAT's
"Oh I did sweetie! It would mean you could stay at home with us instead of going to those all those filthy dirty unsanitary schools you applied to. I checked the door knobs there, and it was only a few parts per million of Bacteria! Less than the average restaurant!" Miss Benson beamed, proud of herself for continuing to keep her son safe from the unseen dangers that lurked all around him.
"Mom!" Freddie whined. "I'm not going there. I can get into a lot better schools than that."
"Okay my little fredikans, just keep in mind! You never know what lies in your future! Besides, the Dean called and offered you a full ride scholarship!"
"Okay mom, I'll think about it." Freddie lied to please his mom.
Later that day after a midday snack of Celery, Freddie headed to his Mom's room to tell her of his plans with Carly and Sam.
"Mom!" Freddie headed in to his parent's bedroom "You in here?"
Freddie heard a muffled reply come from the bathroom and decided to wait on the bed for his mom to get out.
Geez girls take forever!
Freddie attempted to cross his legs, accidently kicking open the door on the nightstand.
Oh shoot! Better clean that up. Don't want mom to think I got into her stack of…….
"…..Letters from Cal-Tech? That's George Mason! This one is Washington University! MOM!"
The door swung open as Mrs. Benson came out, finishing her eyeliner in a pocket mirror.
"Freddie, what have I told you about shouting in the house? It's rude, raises your blood pressure and could even damage your hear….."
Her voice trailed off as she saw her only son on the ground picking up the letters that had fallen out of the night stand.
"FREDDIE!" She shrieked . "PUT THOSE DOWN! DON'T TOUCH THEM! THEY ALL HAVE…. UMMM…… I MEAN THEY'VE GOT ANTHRAX ON THEM!"
Freddie scooped up as many as he could and jumped onto the bed behind him, running to the far side of the bed.
"Fredward" Mrs. Benson tried to use her level calm voice. "Let mommy have those. They're very dangerous."
"No mom, it's too late. I've already seen who they're from. I'm not going to stop until I read every one of them!" The young boy replied as he stuffed the envelopes into the crotch of his pants.
"Freddie, you know I was going to give those to you!" His mom replied. "It just wasn't the time yet!"
"When mom?!" Freddie yelled at her. "When is a good time to give me letters from college? Is my twenty fifth birthday a good time?"
"I was thinking thirtieth" Mrs. Benson replied before she caught herself.
"MOM! HOW COULD YOU!"
"Freddie! Sweetie! You know how much I love you!"
"Well maybe you cared a little too much this time!"
"Well it doesn't matter Freddie. I won't pay for any of those schools. And your father makes too much for you to get financial aid."
"Oh really mom? Let's just see!"
Freddie grabbed the Washington State University envelope and opened it up, scanning the lines for redemption.
Ok state school less competition, I had high grades, Good test scores, Please be what I need you to be….
"We are proud to offer you a FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP! Here's one from Oregon!"
Freddie ripped it open a little more confident.
"Look mom! Scholarship! Harvard! Scholarship! Yale!-"
Freddie stopped abruptly as his eyes came upon two letters at the bottom of the pile.
"MIT mom. And my back up school, Georgia tech."
Freddie dropped the rest of the letters on the couch as he ran his fingers around the MIT lettering.
His mom stood in front of him, looking out the window. Her voice a defeated, beat down quiet now,
"Go ahead and open it Fredward. Open them both. I am pretty sure what you will find there. Then you can run away and abandon me like your father did. He never really cared."
Freddie's temper boiled over again at the comparison to his biological father. He reached for the dooI'lr, shooting beams of anger out of his eyes at his mother.
"You wanted to wait to open them mom. So I'm going to go out with the people who want me to succeed. My friends! They'll be glad for me! They know who I am! Cause mom; I'm nothing like him!"
Freddie walked out the door and slammed it as hard as he could behind him. He hurried to the elevator hoping to hide his cowardice and fear.
What if I ddin't get it? I'll get the girls to read it. Sam will love it if I don't get it, and Carly will tell me the truth.
