Brotherly Love
The young, sandy haired boy padded silently down the long hallway. He had been having them again. The horrific dreams that were like reenactments of that terrible night. The night him and his brothers had almost gotten massacred. But they survived, which was a miracle on his brother, Randy's part. He was nearly on his deathbed until the ambulance arrived.
Casey finally got to Randy's bedroom door and hesitated before knocking. He wasn't sure or not if he would get yelled at for awakening him, but after the incident, Randy had softened up a little. So Casey took his chances. He lightly knocked on the door and after a few seconds, he heard Randy mutter "Go away". Casey sighed and walked in anyway.
Randy was lying on his stomach with just the top of his head sticking out of the covers. Casey gently shook him awake until he lifted his head up and stared at him. "What do you want?" Casey took his hand off of Randy's shoulder and let it drop back down to his side. "I had another nightmare.." "So what, you want me to tuck you back in or something?" he replied, sarcastically. "No! I just wanted to..can I sleep in here with you?" Casey whispered. "Yeah right. Go bunk with your butt-buddy." Randy pulled the blankets back over his head in hopes that Casey would leave his room. He groaned when he realized he was still there. "I don't wanna sleep with Geoffrey, Randy. I don't feel safe in his room." Realizing that he wasn't gonna win this argument, Randy pushed the covers down. "Get in." A smile spread across Casey's face and he hurriedly climbed into the bed. "Thanks, Randy." "Don't mention it.. To anybody." Randy stifled a laugh and tried to go back to sleep. After a few minutes, he heard Casey again. "Randy..can you put your arm around me?" "Casey!" he whined. "Well Randy, I'm scared! I can't sleep." Randy groaned again and put his arm securely around his younger brother. He knew in the end that he'd give in, he loved Casey to death and would do anything to protect him. He just never told anyone that. "Thanks again, Randy." Casey said in a tired voice, already half-asleep. "Yeah. Anytime, Case..anytime."
