They both knew exactly what brought them together, why they both craved each other's presence.
It wasn't attachment. Neither stayed true to the other, they had plenty of other partners, but nothing seemed to satisfy as the nights they spent together.
It wasn't just lust either. If that were true they wouldn't take time to talk when one of them wasn't in the mood for anything else. And Rufus wouldn't be receptive to warm hands massaging his shoulders after a long day.
It certainly wasn't love. Larxene was incapable of it, as she so often reminded those who said otherwise. Rufus didn't have time for love.
There were no petty gifts.
There were no whispered words of fondness.
There was only time spent being near the other.
Being reminded of the one thing they both sought out.
Power.
Rufus saw it every time the Nobody let bolts of lightning fly when she writhed beneath him.
Larxene saw it when he instructed his Turks to fight her just to see them squirm.
They both saw it when they looked into each others eyes, the raw power swirling around in a mist of blue.
And they both felt it whenever their skin brushed against the other in either innocent or more seductive ways.
It was power that kept them coming back to each other.
It was the hunger for it that drove their actions.
It was the need to dominate the other, to make the other theirs.
They both knew it was a futile attempt.
But they still kept coming back for more of that sweet power that drove them both insane.

Since I have found pretty much nothing with these two, I have coined the term "Larxus" Which you may use if this bit of crack inspires you.
