Okay
It was a horribly cold night in Daein.
Ike lay near the fire, guarding it at first, but dozing off at the mesmerizing sight of the crackling flames.
His mind seemed to be plagued with thoughts of Princess Elincia, and that was all Ike could think of.
Her glowing green hair, unlike any other woman's.
Her bright orange dress that only the Princess of Crimea could wear.
Her chestnut eyes, filled with kindness, empathy, and love.
Love for what?
Could she possibly have feelings for him as he did for her?
Or did he have the wrong interpretation of their friendship?
"Lord Ike?" A soft voice pierced the air and awoke Ike from his daydream.
"Princess, what are you doing up this late? You should be resting. Daein could attack at anytime."
"I know, but I couldn't fall asleep." She replied.
"Why is that?" Ike questioned.
"I have just been thinking about all that has been happening lately. All of these things have gone by so fast. It seems like yesterday you were just a boy, fighting with a group of mercenaries…but now you are a strong man, commanding an army."
"It does seem like a blur, so many battles and deaths have gone by so fast." He thought.
"War truly has no mercy." Elincia stated. "Do you ever regret what has happened? In these battles I mean." she continued.
"As a commander, I can't regret what has happened. War will always have repercussions and people will always die. People are depending on me to be strong and I can't look back." Ike explained.
"You really have grown Ike. But I am still weak and afraid while you still fight on." She had a look of disappointment in herself.
"Its okay, I'm always here. You don't have to be strong." Ike reassured her.
"Ike…thank you."
After a piercing silence Ike decided to toughen up and tell her what was on his mind.
"Elincia...I need to tell you something I've been hiding for a while."
"What's that?" She asked.
"Its wrong…but I…" he stumbled on his own words, his face a light tint of pink.
"I have feelings for you Princess…" he had to get the words out as fast as he could before he would burst.
Elincia was shocked.
"Ike, I…"
"I'm sorry Princess, I have no right. Forget I ever said that." Ike truly regretted what he had said.
"But I can't Lord Ike. Because I have feelings for you too, more than as a friend." Elincia was a shade a pink now also.
Ike couldn't believe his ears. "Uhhh…I'm not too good at these things but um…will you be my…uhh…" Ike was now extremely red and couldn't believe what he was saying.
"Yes…Lord Ike." The princess wore a smile on her face because she truly loved Ike.
Ike pulled Elincia in for a chaste yet passionate kiss, releasing any doubts in their mind, freeing their emotions.
They stared at each other with a loving gaze for a long period of time while comfortable silence filled the area.
"Lets fight on. For each other. And after the war we can be in true peace." Ike proposed.
"Okay." Was her simple answer that seemed to tie up so many loose ends and bring clarity to this night filled with love.
End.
So how did I do?
Please review with constructive criticism so I can improve my writing!
Thanks for reading!
P.S. – I'm not sure if I put Ike a bit out of character, I hope I kept them in their usual personalities!
