Mary Gibbs is your average teenager. She has a sister, named Emma, who is about five years old, her parents and grandparents live in the same house, and she had a bouncy and hyperactive friend named Leslie. But when Mary was almost three years old, something happened to her that had never happened to any other kid in the history of the universe. But she couldn't remember it. Mary had tried to tell her little sister about it, hoping that it might spark some deep memory within her, but names were vague. But at least her sister had liked the story.

Mary hated herself for not remembering what could have been one of the greatest discoveries of all time, but she had read that most kids are childhood amnesic because the brains of younger children were still developing, so most things that happened in a day to day life was lost in memory. She tried this with her sister when she was still young, her results were more or less conclusive.

Mary had decided that if she never changed, then someone or something would recognize what happened during the times she's memory blank at. Her room was the biggest of these contributors. But, as she was nearly an adult already and a big sister, her parents and grandparents expected much more out of her. Leslie was even threatening to give Mary's room a make over because it looked so 'early 2000' and looked 'waaaaay to much like a two year old's bedroom instead of a fourteen year old's room'. Inside, Mary knew her friend was right. Change was coming, and it was coming too quickly. If only someone had invented a time machine already!

Once, Mary wrote a letter addressing one of the characters in her past who she had failed to remember. She knew it had to have been a 'he' and that she had given him some sort of nickname, but all she could remember was blue, purple, and a monster's roar. That couldn't be right, could it?

Hello,

We met when I was too small to remember much, but somehow, I know that I did meet you once. So much of me has changed since we met that last time. Did you take me some place? Did you meet my family? I don't think they mentioned you or know who you are since I've asked many a time with little prevail.

I have a little sister now, she was born about five years ago. She was a winter baby, kind of like I was a fall baby. We named her Emma, but I think a better name would be 'nuisance' if you know what I mean. Now I'm a big sister, and I've got to be more responsible and be good all the time so my sister doesn't grow up to rob a bank or something.

I have a friend who is a year older than me, but her birthday is at the start of the year so it's not that bad of an age gap. We met at summer camp nine years back, turns out she was living on the other end of my street for as long as I have! Her grandparents were even friends with mine back when they were kids, they practically grew up together!

My friend from a forgotten childhood adventure, things are changing around me, and I can't seem to stop and remember what it was like to know you or how you talked. Some times I have dreams that were memories from long before, and I think you are in some of them because I feel the same thing when I wake up from dreams of you; comfort in fear and sadness of separation. I'm sorry that I forgot you, just... never forget me. (If you haven't already.) Okay?

With forgotten love and memories,
