"wha-what have you done?" Ozai asked the avatar who was against a rock his chest bleeding out.

"I took your bending away" Aang said as ozai passed out. Just as the young airbenders eyes were about to close to world forever a shout made them shoot open.

"TWINKLE TOES!" Toph's voice was filled with pure terror. There was something different about the blind bender this Aang noticed. Her bandana was gone fallen to the ground in front of her, hair fell past her shoulders and her eyes were filled with tears something he swore he had never seen before.

"I-i-is the great To-Toph B-B-Beifong crying?" he joked in a shaking voice smiling at her even though he knew she would never see that smile.

"Sh-shut u-(hiccup)- up do-(sniff)-n't joke about this Aang." Toph said trying not to lose it.

"Toph i-it's going to be a-a-alright." Aang said grabbing the girls trembling hand.

"NO IT WON'T" she yelled crying no longer able to hold back "YOU'RE DYING AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO STOP IT!" she sobbed.

Sokka limped next to Toph " You should tell him you will always regret it if you don't this will be your last chance." he whispered in her ear.

Toph knew what the non-bending boy meant and she knew that he was right though she was unsure if she would be able to tell the dying boy how she felt about him. However she knew she had to suck it up and face this head on like a rock. "(sigh) Aang" Toph began "I want you to know that I have fallen in love with you" her chest was aching " I-I don't know when I had or for how long but I knew it was real and not some crush. This is because during the fire nation/Dai-li siege of Basing-sei I had never been so terrified in all my life, even when I had to walk across the ice bridge and when I almost drowned at the Serpents pass had nothing on that. The thought of losing you scared me so much I had a nightmare every night for the two months you were in a coma and three weeks after." Toph cried

" T-Toph why didn't you s-say something?" Aang asked.

"well you only showed an interest in katara so I tried to move on but no matter what I just couldn't." Toph told him.

"Toph I-I-I used to like Katara yes but I got over her after the s-s-second time I kissed her. I-I-I felt nothing" the airbender told her "w-what I am saying Toph is that I love you too." Aang said "Toph I have s-something to ask o-of you." He said

"what is it Aang?" Toph asked

"I want you to t-teach the next avatar earth bending." Aang said

" Why Aang, why do you want me to?" Toph asked the dying boy

"Other than you being the greatest earthbender I want our friendship to transcend an entire lifetime." Aang said kissing her before dying.

"I-I promis Twinkle Toes." Toph said kissing him one last time.
