The Winchester characters and the angels belong to Kripke Enterprises, Inc. and the CW, not me. This story is written for my entertainment only, not for money.

This is a continuation to the previous story, Stand and Watch. It would be good if you read that too.

Counting the Ways

"I would take you to the highest mountain; wash you in the dark blue sea. Kiss you in the shaded jungle; lay you down on the burning sands."

"For I love you; I will always love you and I would give the universe to you if only you would return my love."

Castiel touched Dean's lips and stoked his cheek. Dean flinched and turned away. "You lifted me out of hell. Is this how I must repay?"

"If you could learn to love me too, I would blend our souls together. Never alone, always sharing, you would be safe with me. No one could harm you, age would not beckon. Come see the birth of stars with me.

Dean glanced on the ground beneath his feet.. "And what of earth and what of my family? How would you keep them safe?"

"All I have I give to you. I would give my grace, my promise of eternity, all the love I owe my Father, I will give to you and earth. Your brother would become blessed. The shadow of our reflected love will fall upon him and make him strong. Let me bind your soul to me."

Dean stretched out his hand. "I don't know how to do this."

"Don't worry love, just let it happen." Castiel took his hand than pulled his body close. With a kiss the grace was transferred and they began to join.

Castiel the Angel left his vessel and rose up to the stars. Within the light filled angel the man was safely held, the universe shone in his eyes.

Power arced through the human body. Their joining shook the heavenly plain. A thousand thousand angels felt the new creation. Many rejoiced that the Father's plan was fulfilled. An angel learned to love a human, if only in a single act. Some hid their faces in fear of something so unexpected.

Drifting through the universe's star fields, the man held safe in his angel's embrace, they watched the birth of stars in multi-hued nebula nurseries. They saw the beams of pulsing quasars sweeping though the distant star fields like gigantic lighthouses warning the passing ships of danger. Stars exploded and showered their burning ashes throughout space in a cascade of light.

All these gems of creation the Angel lay at his lover's feet. A cloak of stars, flung down. The angel's wings fully exposed, wrapped around their naked forms and held them warm as they lay in the black space between the stars.
