A/N: This is my first Static Shock story. It's more of a drabble, truly. I know, it's nowhere close to the Holidays; still, I had to post it. It wouldn't let me be. Please review. Or flame. Or laugh maniacally.
Disclaimer: Static Shock and all related trademarks do not belong to me. However, I do own most of the song lyrics. (I can't remember if I made up the first verse, or if I heard it somewhere.)
Talent Show
By: Nonimus
Richie was nervous.
He fought criminals and psychos all the time. This shouldn't be a big deal.
Richie stepped forward.
He spoke to big media reporters on almost a daily basis. This shouldn't bother him.
Richie cleared his throat.
He was used to the attention, the cameras. He shouldn't be so nervous.
Richie felt like barfing.
"Well… uhh… Virgil wanted me to sing a Christmas carol this year, since he missed last year's show. Unfortunately, he picked "Oh, Christmas Tree." What I'm about to sing is the only version of that song that I know. So… here goes… something."
With that, Richie began to sing.
Oh, Christmas tree,
Oh, Christmas tree,
Why did you fall on top of me?
You broke my arm and,
My dad's new car and,
You hurt my face with,
My mom's new vase.
Oh, Christmas tree,
Oh, Christmas tree,
The lightning struck you grandly.
You went crashing,
And there was smashing,
Still the people running,
Thought you were stunning.
Oh, Christmas tree,
Oh, Christmas tree,
The fire was so pretty.
You destroyed my house and,
My favorite couch and,
You killed my cat with,
My brand new bat.
Oh, Christmas tree,
Oh, Christmas tree,
You even took my sanity.
Richie walked off the stage amongst cheers, laughter and applause.
He was proud of himself. He had only had five minutes to think of his rendition of "Oh, Christmas Tree."
Richie thought he had done rather well.
He had made it through the embarrassing ordeal without throwing up. It was true that he wouldn't win, but at least the nervousness was over.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed. Please, send a review.
