Oneshot. Completely random. Doesn't follow the OVA's posted at the end of Conqueror of Shamballa. This is my version of the end.

I swear I don't mean any harm to any American people out there. I was attempting to write from a German point of view, even though I'm Australian. Also, Haushofer was one of Hitler's scientists, one that was... –struggles to remember from random documentary- assigned to Japan at some point, because of his skill with languages. I think. Rated for Ed's language. -tuts-

Disclaimer: If I owned FMA, Ed and Winry would so be a pairing. As they are not, I guess I don't. Enjoy.

"What do you mean, they've got two of them?!" Edward screamed to his younger brother of the squeals and booms of the dropping bombs and the telltale ra-ta-ta-ta-ta of machine gun fire.

"Exactly that, brother," Al yelled back, ducking as debris from the last hit, which was a little too close for comfort, flew over his head and buried itself into the crumbling building to the right. That was once a flower shop... "One's targeted at," he looked down, checking the piece of paper clenched tightly in his hand. "Nagasaki, and the other one is coming here."

"Those bastards," Ed screeched, seemingly to himself, but Alphonse could still hear him. "How the hell did those fucking Americans get hold of it anyway?!"

"People will do anything for money, Ed. The people here probably found out what destructive power it held, then auctioned it off to the powers. Who, in turn probably made a copy," Al reminded him calmly, though inside he was screaming profanities almost as offensive as his brother. This is bad. Real bad.

"Shit, here they come!" His brother's forceful scream made Al look up and his eyes widened with raw terror.

A large B-29 bomber flew overhead, so high that the entire attack looked only to be a reconnaissance flight. The heart of Hiroshima was only a kilometre or two away, and its target was clear.

The sudden silence of the world was deafening, almost as if it was waiting for this moment, this impact. The brothers stood, outlined against the blue of the late summer sky.

The hum of falling megaweapon filled the air, its relatively small shape clear and foreboding. Time slowed to a stop.

"Your time has run out." An otherworldly voice spoke, echoing through time and space. The Gate...

Light.

With a blast that sent the area surrounding the city in a radius of fifteen kilometres into a nuclear winter, choking life from poisoned lungs, it went off.

Hiroshima was wiped clean.

The Elrics had failed.

"It has been released; the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been destroyed. Victory is in our grasp."

I don't recall the actual address from the USA's president, so that's just made up. Review, pwease...
