So you going home anytime soon?" Sara leaned over on Grissom's desk. Her supervisor lifted his head and smiled sleepily at her nodding. "Good! Cause we got another graveyard shift tomorrow!"
"Sara, why are you still here?"
"Because I was kind of worried about you. Are you still on the last case?" She stood up and crossed her arms trying to look relaxed. "It was a weird case I know, but you never get personal on anything."
"Are you ever going to let me out of that?"
She grinned, "Never."
"This is one time I wish I hadn't opened my mouth."
"Let me come home with you."
He froze in mid talk and looked at Sara with wide eyes. Grissom removed his glasses blinking. "Excuse me?"
"Let me come home with you. That case freaks me out. I don't want to think of you wanting to do that- get beheaded to die. It'd just be wrong." She was stammering and blushing.
"Why would I want that?" He stood up, "I never said that- never even thought it."
"T..That man, Gil, he..he reminded me of you." She whispered looking to the ground.
"That man was a pyscho path who was obsessed with the past."
"I know that." She replied a tear falling down her cheek. "But you are just as caught up in your work as he was in the past."
"So because of that I am going to turn out dead with no head? Sara, that's ridiculas."
"If it is then prove it." She shouted. Her voice echoed in the empty hallways. "If you care about something else then prove it."
"Sara, calm down. Breathe." He was getting nervous himself. Grissom could never figure out how to stop a female from exploding or having a breakdown. Catherine was the one who always took care of this.
"Breathe?" She hissed.
Ok so that wasn't the best way to go. He took a step back and removed his glasses in fear of losing them completely. "What do you want out of me?"
"What do I want? I don't know what I want. I really don't. I'm sorry for bothering you- good night." She turned around and stalked out.
He stared at her for a few seconds before he found his body following her and shouting her name. She turned around and was crying. He'd never seen her cry.
Now of course his body and brain was out of autopilot so he had to do the hard stuff.
"I..I'm..sorry.." He stammered putting his hands in his pockets and looking away. "I'm not sure how to act around women. Expecially attractive ones.."
"Excuse me? This is not the time for flattery."
"Ok. Ok. So what do I say?"
"Ever heard of bodily contact?"
"Bodily." He breathed. "Contact?"
"Yeh you know two bodies touch." Sara replied rolling her eyes. "I knew Greg was a better catch then you."
"Wait- Greg? That lab boy versus level 6 CSI?"
She was getting past his brick wall finally. Sara tried not to smile and looked at him with meaningful eyes. "Yeh, he at least knows when to hug and comfort a girl."
Grissom took that as she wanted a hug. He lifted his arms out unsure what to do next. She didn't budge. Damn. He was having to do this the hard way.
He moved forward and took her in his arms. She wrapped his arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder sighing. "Thank you..." She whispered through tears. "Even if we never work out at least I have this moment."
"Home.." He whispered in her ear.
She nodded and he stood up straight. Sara wrapped her legs around his waist. "Home.." She repeated.
It was quite the picture to the guards outside of CSI to see Gil Grissom carrying Sara Sidle and smiling whilst doing so.
Destiny had finally reached the end of it's race. Their first kiss was quick and light but it was followed by a more heated kiss. A smile from Gil had Sara smiling back and laying back in the passenger seat.
Finally.
End
