"No, nuh-uh, Not gonna happen. No way, Meade." Faye scowled as she kept her gaze locked just ahead of her, ignoring the woman hovering at the other end of the sofa.
"But Faye, honey…" Diana begged, as she shuffled along until she was as close as she could get without being sat in her wife's lap. A hand crept up to tangle in Faye's dark hair, comfortingly "Please?" Shaking her head, dislodging the hand, Faye continued to glower darkly into thin air.
"I've said no Diana, a thousand times in fact, why can't you just accept it?" She muttered finally turning to meet her wife's brown eyes levelly. Their gazes stayed locked before Diana leant in to kiss Faye quickly on the lips.
"Faye, we're been having this argument for the past four years, and even before then, before we got married," The younger woman soothed, moving the hand back up brushing a dark lock of hair behind her partner's ear, "You know I want kids, and I know you do too, you're just too scared to admit it. We also know that I can't be the one to have them." She moved slightly to allow her thumb to stroke the skin beneath one green eye. Faye let out a huff of air, but leaned into the hand nevertheless.
"I know but you can't, but who says I still don't want a tiny baby know-it-all or even then why can't we adopt a little brat? I'm just not sure about..." Faye trailed off unhappily, her mouth forming a pout before leaning forward and pressing her face into Diana's shoulder. Diana herself rested her own head atop of Faye's head inhaling the unique scent of coconut shampoo, vanilla body lotion and the smell of something that reminded her of how the air smelt just after rainfall, which always seemed to cling to her wife's person. They sat in silence for a while. This was definitely not the first time they'd discussed the topic of children, but this time Diana was determined to hash the entire argument out. Silently she began to plan her points and anticipate her wife's objections.
"Are you sure you can't… I mean does it have to be me?" Faye asked softly, surprising Diana with this lapse finally. It still seemed odd at times to Diana to see the immovable object that was Faye Chamberlain get scared or give in. It had seemed that ever since they had been little kids together the other girl had seemed fearless, a larger than life figure to her, whether in the face of bullies or the numerous witch hunters they'd encountered.
"You know I can't Faye. I've got darkness in me," Inhaling another lungful of Faye's calming smell she continued "You've seen Cassie nearly die from it; you've seen me struggle from it. You witnessed first-hand how insane Blackwell had been driven with all that power. I don't want that for our child," She felt a nod gently against her chest, "Besides, you may want tiny Diana's running around but I think little Faye's are much more appealing."
"You are aware I was a terror as a child." Faye said dryly, the words muffled by hair and the material of Diana's shirt.
"I remember, we did grow up together, and what I don't your Mom has told me, numerous times. Before our wedding she actually warned me," She teased, free hand prodding Faye in the ribs "However, you were the cutest; I mean the chubby cheeks and pigtails? Adorable." Diana swooned as Faye groaned.
"What if I'm a bad Mom?" Faye's hair rustled against Diana's collarbone as she shifted minutely asked softly, voicing her biggest fear.
"Oh Faye." Diana breathed, her arms wrapping tightly around her wife to give her a hug.
"I mean my Mom had her hands full when I was little, she was too busy conquering the world, getting over my Dad and dealing with my chaos that she needed my granddad's help. But… she was still there for me. What if I can't do that? Put a kid's needs before mine? I mean I'm fucking selfish Di, everyone knows it. And as many have pointed out I'm a bitch, who knows if I can even love?" Faye muttered bitterly, bringing up the sometimes sore point. Diana knew that her wife wore that insult like a suit of armour and referred to herself as such, but somewhere along the line it had left a lasting mark.
Gentle Diana tugged Faye's face from the crook of her neck to look her in the eyes.
"Hey, you are totally capable loving," Diana waved a hand between the pair, wedding band glinting, "Not everyone sees it but you can sweet and caring. You will be a great Mom." Green eyes stayed fixed on brown for a moment before looking down.
"I'm just being stupid." Faye muttered rolling her eyes at herself "Baby talk is already making me emotional." She quipped, earning a chuckle from the other woman. The pair sat in silence for a moment, bodies still entwined.
"So are we going to…" Diana finally asked carefully, barely even believing Faye might actually be agreeing.
"It'll hurt." Faye tried to finally counter this rapidly growing idea. Diana hid her grin in the dark hair of her wife, biting back the sarcastic 'Of course'.
"It'll be worth it." She coaxed.
"I'll get fat and look gross." It was hard to repress the laugh that bubbled up her throat. Trust her wonderful wife to be thinking about her looks.
"You'll be carrying a baby, there's a difference. Besides You'll be gorgeous. And just think we get a tiny baby at the end." Diana counted to ten in her head. Nothing. She knew she was going to win this time.
Their eyes met again, a silent agreement was made.
"Fine!" Faye huffed, trying to hide the smile "I'll agree but it be on your head when I'm hormonal."
"More than normal then you mean?" Diana smirked, only to be swatted away by an annoyed hand.
"I'm serious." Faye said still looking at her.
"And I'm not?" Diana teased lightly back, before becoming more serious "So we're doing this then? Having a baby?"
"Making plans to have one, there's still a hell of a lot to be done. But, yes we are." Faye breathed out.
"God I love you." Diana muttered before attacking her wife with kisses.
