A young parrot stood in front of the towering pillars that billowed over him with a
Sign reading "DYNASTY ELEMENTRY SCHOOL". A parrot in his late 20's wearing a
Yellow tee and blue jeans stepped out of a washed out blue family wagon. His
Emerald eyes glowed with warmth as he kneeled down, eye level with the small
bird. Another parrot stepped out of the car, her long brunette hair swaying from
side to side as her hazel brown eyes gazed at the young parrot as she knelt too.
"Do you have everything you need?" The male parrot asked. The young parrot
nodded. "Felix dear, I double checked his bag already." the female said laughing.
Felix let out a slight chuckle. "Well, it never hurts to check again Maria." They
both looked back at the young parrot whose eyes resembled his mother's in a
way but had a slight hint of red in them. His macaroni colored shirt was labeled
with a black Z on the front and his blue pants clashed with his white and red
sneakers. "Are you nervous?" Maria asked him. "Não…" the eight year old replied
before looking down hesitantly. "Well…." Maria hugged him as Felix joined in.
"You'll love your new school." Felix beamed. "Just be yourself." Maria smiled. The
little boy hugged back, all of their green feathers shining in the sunlight. "You're a
Carioca and now it's time to show the world." Felix said. "Ok Pai…" the small
parrot answered. Felix smiled as he patted his son's head. "Esse é o meu garoto!"
he announced. His mother gave him a quick kiss on the cheek as they both stood
up and
headed back to the car. The boy looked at his parents as he waved goodbye. They waved back
before shouting "Have a wonderful first day Jose'!" Jose' smiled as he nodded his head in
approval. "We'll pick you up as soon as school's out." His mom assured him as the family
wagon drove off, leaving a trail of dust along the road. Jose' turned his attention toward the
school. "Look out…" He said with determination. "Cause Jose's coming." With that, Jose' took a
deep breath and ventured his way inside to a new journey.
