Another short story by me. Hope I do well portraying them as they are.
Sango was cooking Dinner. InuYasha and Kagome had gone to her time. More like she had left and after a few hours of sulking InuYasha had followed. She hoped that those two could someday get together. Speaking of getting together... She turned to Miroku. If the man weren't a pervert he would be perfect. He was nice, handsome and allowed her to speak her mind.
"Do you think I'm selfish Sango?"
Sango looked up at the blunt question. She had never thought Mikoru was selfish. Yes he liked comforts and good food but he was never willing to hurt someone to get them. So she replied," No Mikoru I don't. Why do you ask?"
Miroru smiled slightly. But soon went back to his somber look. He answered by saying," I am selfish Sango because each time I ask a woman to bear my child I am hoping to murder someone."
Sango gasped,"W-What do you mean? How are you hoping to kill someone? You wish for someone to be born don't you?"
"Yes but in the end their life will be cut short unless they can defeat Naraku. They will live on the road haunted by their fate."
"You know that that won't happen Miroku. We'll defeat Naraku or at least weaken him enough that someone else will be able to."
Mikoru frowned at her," Don't you get it! My family has hunted Naraku for at least 50 years! None of us has even made any progress! My father never even located Naraku! I hadn't seen him before InuYasha and I met! Now he has the jewel and will become even stronger if we die! The chance of any one person beating him is just stupid! This is my family's last chance! Anyone after me is doomed! I'm willing to sentence a unborn child to death!"
Sango leaned back shocked that Mikuro truly felt that way. He always acted so confident and sure that they would defeat Naraku. Or that he was happy at the thought of having a son. She looked down at the ground.
Micro looked at her and felt guilty. He hadn't planned to snap at her. It had just come out. He said in a low voice," I'm sorry Sango. Forgive me."
Sano looked up shocked that he was apologizing to her. After all she had been the one who had started it in a way. Against her better judgment she walked around the fire and came to sit by his side. She looked sideways at him and said," It's not your fault. Forgive me for forgetting that your life is at stake. But still we have a chance because we're not alone. We have InuYasha and Kagome. Also you can count in Koga and Sesshomaru. We have a very good chance at winning. Also you want to have a heir so that there is even more of a chance for someone to defeat Naraku."
Sango put her arm on Mikuro's shoulder. For once the monk didn't even think of groping her. He just sighed and said," Thank you Sango."
There they stayed until the fish started burning and things went back to normal.
So what you think. Were they out of character? I fell kinda bad for him. After all it would be a pretty big burden to carry. So review please. Thanks for reading!
