He stared at the empty cupboard in disbelief, its door hanging off of its hinges.

He barked at the guard outside to fetch his adviser.

"If it was him-"

"He wouldn't dare."

He fixed his adviser with a glare.

"But he would never succeed."

"We don't know that. He is stubborn enough."

His adviser took in a breath through his nose.

"What?" he growled.

His adviser shifted. "You should not have sacrificed her."

"I would never have guessed-"

"You have too much faith in your inerrancy, Lord Emon. The damage it may cause-"

"Will be non-existent. We will follow the wanderer and make sure he never gets to the Forbidden Lands."
