Title: Forever Didn't Last Long
Pairings: Arthur/Merlin, Arthur/Gwen
Spoilers: Um none really unless you're talking legend here… sort of.
WARNINGS: Angst (back with a vengeance!) Bitter/jealous!Merlin.
Disclaimer: Merlin not mine *sob* It's the BBC's though I want to rob them and get away with Bradley and Colin ^_^
Summary: Merlin doesn't take Arthur's marriage well.
Notes: My darker muses went nuts. This is just the beginning of a long run of DARK! Merlin always seems so cutesy and sweet, except… episode 13. A very dark moment for him which just proves he can be. I'm just exploring that. This is a mild one, considering.

I stand outside your room. I can hear you both in there and my heart breaks a little further. I remember lying in that bed, lying in your arms while you whispered promises of forever.
I brace myself against the wall, suddenly finding breathing the hardest thing to do. Did you lie to me? You have perfected the art of disguise. You can say one thing and think something else. You mask it behind those blue eyes of yours.
Liar. Cheat. King of deception. How I hate you now. I whispered words of love in your ear and you whispered words of poison. Were you laughing at me all the time? Poor little, blind, Merlin. Don't worry, he will never realise, he's too much of an idiot.
Well, fuck you, Arthur. I'm not blind or stupid.
But why her? Did you do it just to spite me further? Gwen. My friend, damn you! You didn't have to bring her into this. I still don't blame her. There was no way she could have said no to you. You are the king after all.
I'm sorry to do this to you, Gwen. But he deserves it. As much as magic brought you into this life Arthur, it will now stop you bringing life into this world. I utter a spell at the door, knowing it will find the recipient and he will never know.
I will deny you the one thing you so desperately crave, Arthur. The Pendragon line will end with you. Camelot dies.
I will not be your doormat any longer. I quit. I have a prior engagement with a tree. You will never see me again. That suits me fine.
I turn in a swirl of bright robes and march away never looking back.
Forever didn't last long.
