Hi guys. I had my heart broken tonight. Here's basically what happened.

He was too kind to her.
Even in the end, he let her down gently. He let her sit down, so that her knees wouldn't shake. When tears began to form in her eyes, he turned away so that he wouldn't see them—not for his sake, of course, but for her own pride. He had let her go with a smile, not of joy or bliss but of pity and guilt.
He had tried so hard to make it easy on her, but in the end that only made her sadder. She wished he could've been a jerk about it—she wished that he had rejected her with a large banner or screaming her name. She wished that he had cried from the top of his lungs, "I DON'T LOVE HER". She wished that much. But instead, he told her that he would forget about her confession. Not for his sake, but for hers. He didn't say the last part, but Ino knew that's why he had said so.
He understood her—that's what killed her. To the very end, to the very goodbye he still understood her heart, how she worked… everything. He understood that when she apologized for selfishly confessing her feelings to him, she was being genuine. He understood that when she began to laugh after he told her to forget, with a huge grin on her face, that it was a defense mechanism. She didn't know what else to do. Deep down in her heart, she knew that he didn't love her—but actually confirming it sent her into fight or flight mode. And Ino was a fighter. So she laughed.
She laughed. And laughed. Until he turned around and walked away she laughed. She laughed so hard that tears formed in her eyes and soon she was sobbing. Sobbing and crying, makeup smearing down her face. She had run home, straight upstairs, and continued crying into her pillow.
She tried hating him. Oh, she tried to hate him so. But how could she when he tried so hard not for her to be hurt? He knew that she would be hurt; he knew that she was weaker than she looked, and he wanted to lessen that hurt as much as possible. He wanted to let her down easy. But how could she get over him if she couldn't even hate him?
How could she?
How could she hate someone who was so kind?
