For a five year old the first day of kindergarten is a big deal. I mean a HUGE deal. Especially for Zed. His parents kept him inside alot to keep him out of trouble so he didn't know most of the kids his age.
"Will I like them?"
Will they like me?"
"What if…."
Those were the thoughts in his head while his mom drove him to school.
"Whats on your mind Z?" his mom asked looking at him in the mirror.
"I-I-I don't know what your talking about."
"Ha! I can see right through your act little boy."
"Nope. I'm ready. I'm gonna rule this school." He said, even as a 5 year old he had a charming personality.
"You got this Zed it's gonna be great. It doesn't matter what the other kids think. You are an adorable little boy everyone is gonna love you."
As usual his mom knew what was on his mind.
"Thanks mom. That helps…. Alot."
His mom gave him her signature warm smile. "I love you Z."
Zed walked into his classroom clinging close to his mom. When he got inside he was in awe. There were blocks, and crayons and cars and so much stuff. To a little kid it was paradise. And of course there were so many other kids.
"Mama, where's E?" Zed asked looking up at his mom.
His mom laughed "Well if I know my best friend, and I do Zora is going to be late."
Zed laughed, his Aunt did have a tendency to be late.
After playing with a car with his mom he saw his Aunt and best friend walk in. Zora was pushing her daughter in while she crossed her arms and glared.
Zed ran over to greet them with a huge smile on his face.
"Lizzie, Lizzie, look at all this isn't it cool!"
Eliza just glared at him. " I. Hate. This. Dress." She said under her breath.
Zed doubled over laughing and even his mom giggled.
"Elizabeth I told you, I wanted you to look nice." Everyone could tell it wasn't the first time she had that that mourning.
"Yeah, and I told you I wanted to wear my pajamas!" She exclaimed and stomped her foot.
Zora rubbed her temples and closed her eyes "What am I going to with this child?"
Eliza looked up at her her mother, smiled and batted her eyes sweetly "Throw me in containment?"
"Zed why don't you show Eliza what you were playing with." Zora said sighing deeply
"If you want me to leave me alone so you can tell Auntie Z how I screamed bloody murder while you braided my hair this morning just say so." Eliza looked up at her mom before walking off with Zed.
"So that's what that loud noise was." Zed teased and Eliza hit him in the arm. "Ow, jeez." He said rubbing his arm.
Zed and Eliza walked over to where all the toys.
"Look at this!" Zed said still in awe.
"Not impressed." Eliza just shrugged.
"Come on Lizzie, this is SO COOL!" Zed said sitting down next to a pile of blocks.
Zed eventually got her to play with him and a few minutes later they were giggling and stacking blocks together. Zed was taller than your average 5 year old so he was able to place the blocks while sitting down while Eliza had to stand up to reach the top of the tower.
Then a lady with a green ponytail and thick glasses walked up to where they were playing and sat down with next to the kids.
"Hi kids! I'm Miss Jozie I'm your teacher. What are your names?"
"I'm Zed Edward Necrodopolus. And this is Eliza. We have been best friends since we were babies."
"Aww your so cute." Jozie gushed over duo. "So how are you two today?"
"I hate my dress. I hate my shoes. I hate my tights. I hate my sweater. I hate my french braid. I hate my bow. I do NOT like any of it." Eliza said gesturing to the outfit.
"Well I think you look very cute Eliza." Jozie said tucking one of Eliza's wisphys behind her ear.
"Noooooo I look the Sugar Plum Fairy from the nutcracker." Eliza corrected.
"I think you look cute." Zed said smiling at her
Eliza just rolled her eyes.
"You two are already my favorites. But don't tell the others." Jozie said putting her finger to her lips.
While the pair was drawing later that day when Miss Jozie came up to them.
"What are you two cuties drawing?" She said looking over them.
"I drew my family." Eliza said.
"This is my Dad, I'm mad at him cuz he made me eat cauliflower brains for breakfast and It was gross."
Jozie looked the girl and laughed.
"This is my Mom, I'm mad her cuz she made me where all of this." She said tugging on her dress.
"And this is Paizley, my big sister. I'm mad at her cuz this bow was her doing." Eliza tugged the bow at the end of her braid.
"I drew my mom. She is really nice and always makes me feel better." Zed said smiling at his picture.
"Well you must have a great family, both of you."
"I do. I love my parents. But I really want a sibling."
Eliza laughed "Oh no you don't!"
Jozie smiled at there little antics "Siblings are very special Zed. I hope you get one."
Zed smiled. He liked his new teacher. "Its ok. Lizzie's like my sister."
"Yeah and I like Zed more than my real sibling." Eliza returned his smile
Zed reached over and gave her a hug.
"Awwww you are too cute!" Jozie said watching them hug.
"MOM!" After school Zed ran outside to find his mom.
"Hi Sweetie!" His mom greeted him and pulled him into a hug.
"Hi Paizley!" Zed said giving the older zombie a hug.
"Where Eliza?" His mom asked him. "Liz and Paizley are coming over until their parents get home from work."
"Well since she was forced against her will to wear the most horrible terrible painful shoes that have given her blisters she can't run." He said quoting her every word.
"Well its true!" Eliza said walking up to him.
"Hi Auntie Zara!" She said throwing her arms around her Aunt. "You." She scoffed looking at her sister.
"Wow all because of little bow." Paizley rolled her eyes used to her sisters behavior.
"How was school you two." Zara said looking at them.
"Great!" Zed exclaimed at the same time Eliza said eh.
Zara laughed. "Well lets get you three home. You can me more in the car."
"Ok well my tighs were ichy." Eliza started her rant.
That wasn't so bad Zed thought. I was actually pretty great.
