The Curse

Imagine having a power so terrifying you can't move under its grip. You can't scream for help, you can't run away and no matter how tight you close your eyes those gruesome images that this 'power' crates will never fade. This power could be called a curse and you should hope you are never burdened with it. There's nothing fun or exiting about it. Who would want the curse of seeing deaths before they've happened and then have the heart-stopping race against time to try and save them?

One girl that knows more about this than anybody is Charlie Holdsworth. At this very moment she is sitting at Happier times care centre trying to forget every memory she has. From the age of 14 she has had the curse and from the age of 16 she has fully understood it. She is now 19 and from the 389 deaths she has seen she only managed to save 4 people. Those 4 people were Dr., Sergeant Copewell, Nurse Ports and Charlie Herself. Yes she has seen her own death and stopped it but the other 3 saved lives thought she was crazy which is why she is now in this care centre. She lies on her back counting the cracks in the ceiling almost reaching 80 when she stops. Her eyes are wide and she freezes as if playing her long forgotten childhood game of musical statues. Only what she is going through is not as sweet or innocent.

She can see the thick black smoke billowing out from under the large white van she was sat in. Looking around she can see 3 other people. Dr., Sergeant Copewell and Nurse Ports. Sergeant Copewell was leant against the inflated airbag. He was dead. Nurse Ports in the passenger seat had a large gaping wound on the side of her neck. She was dead. Dr. well he doesn't ever bare to think about. He was dead. Charlie tried the doors but they had crashed into the side of a building and it was jammed shut. She noticed an old looking book on the back seat beside her. Some of the lettering has been worn down but from the still in tact letters she could make out two words. It's over. There was a loud boom.

Charlie sat up in a cold sweat gasping for breath. She was still in the care centre. At the Moment Nurse Ports Came in. "Morning Charlie we're moving you to a new clinic today, is coming and sergeant Copewell is going to drive us you remember them don't you?" She simply nodded and followed the nurse outside where the Dr and The Sergeant were waiting in a white van.

They set off through long forgotten hills to her new care home. Charlie knew they'd never make it.

She was scared but there was nothing that a frail girl of 19 could do to thwart deaths intent. If it was deaths plan for her to die today, to end all of the premonitions there was nothing she would attempt to stop it. Life is just a biological function and death is just a natural end to it. She glanced up out of the window noticing the first building in miles. She knew her time was now and knowing this made her more aware to every little detail. A small grey dog ran out into the road making the van swerve to the left. The road was slippery due to rainfall and the vehicle skidded gaining speed with each millimetre closer to the building it got. Charlie could smell the petrol and burning rubber. The right hand side of the van scraped along the brick wall causing sparks to fly. As the van came to a sudden stop she flew forward hearing the loud crack as her nose came into contact with the back of nurse ports headrest. She looked down at the book on her left hand side and she knew that this was it.

It's over.
