AN: So far this is only a one shot. I originally intended on calling their son Faolan but someone told me there is already a ES: Skyrim fic with Vilkas having a son with that very name... Suggestions for names are welcome. Preferably something nord-sounding.

The thrumming of little feet on the wooden deck of Jorrvaskr was a very familiar sound nowadays. A lot had changed in six years, ever since the arrival of the dragonborn. Seeing as they wished to venture past the Skyrim border, the dragonborn had named a new harbinger. No other than one of the oldest members who lived and breathed the guild; Vilkas.

In one aspect this pleased him, he had the authority to voice his concerns without snarky remarks from Aela, and he could also prove his leadership and strategic skills. However, living in the shadow of his forefather was difficult, especially when he witnessed Kodlak's death right here in Jorrvaskr.

A boy of four years with a mop of black hair ran around the outer side of the room. Vilkas changed direction, sprinting across the center of the room and blocked the way the boy had been heading, a wooden sword held firmly in his hand. The boy scowled at him, his silver eyes as piercing as a knife, "Papa, you cheated!" He swung clumsily at his father with his own wooden sword, no where near as experienced.

Vilkas smirked, "Now, ma'boy, what did I say about your swing?"

"Hold it properlally."

"Properly," he corrected, "and yes, but more importantly, like-"

"Vilkas, sweetie, he's only a child," Ria called, "Play with him, don't train him."

Turning to see his beloved now sitting at one of the tables around the fire pit, he felt a tremendous sense of pride swell in his chest; not only did he have a son, but soon he may have another. It didn't matter to him whether or not he had many sons or daughters, as long as he had them with Ria.

He hadn't expected such an outcome when they first took her on as one of the companions; she was strong willed but needed many pointers. Vilkas eventually caught on that she was actually a very skilled shieldmaiden, and that she simply liked spending time with him, alone.
